Teri spends most of her time, hanging out on a small farm in Vermont with Murdock (pictured), Izzie, and 6 goats! .
When not working or writing, Teri is an avid and unrepentant science fiction junkie, and enjoys most outdoor activities, from hiking to skiing, to good company around a bonfire.
music ranges all over the charts- from classical, to native american to alternative.
TV shows- game of thrones, WENTWORTH, dark matter (so far:).
and yes- the caps-key and i have never been close!
I Hope that I learned, and teach.. that healing does not have to be complicated or painful. If we can understand the mechanics of energy and how we carry old patterns, we can change them. Also, Healing is not in the reading, or the thinking. Healing comes from the doing. To that end, this book attempts to engage the reader in actually doing little things that encourage different perspectives, and moving toward resolution. It also supports to release and forgive, and sometimes, to just move on without anger.
The book does this with simple exercises and activities, including space on the pages to explore ideas and transform experiences. This way, all things help us to grow and just be okay with the world around us.
If you want to change the world. Change yourself, then you come to realise that in this Dance of Life.. the Universe is our real partner.
It is better than the ones written by Wilcox and Jenkins on the same subject. However, still not going to the deep of the matters as I hoped. My other problem with book is that there are empty pages to write your expreriences. I can do it in a notebook, no need to pay for them.
A little sluggish as expected by a non-fiction book but well worth the process. You will learn ways to help yourself and to bring some personal joy to your own life. Take the time to give this journey a chance and you will not regret it.
When I requested Teri J. Dluznieski's novel, Cafe of the Hungry Ghosts, I said that I was interested in the shamanism aspect. She then generously offered to send me her non-fiction shamanism book, Dancing In Your Bubble. It's based in the same Andean culture as the novel. It can be read as a companion book for the novel for those interested in finding out more.
A number of the exercises included within the book are psychologically focused. I recognized the use of re-framing from NLP (Neuro -Linguistic Programming). It's possible to take a non-spiritual approach to this book and use the psychology aspect for personal growth. It addresses problems that anyone might have, not just those who are interested in pursuing shamanism.
I thought that there were some useful insights in Dancing in Your Bubble. I adopt what I find useful by integrating it with what I have previously learned, and making it my own so that it's relevant to me. No two people will have the exact same responses to the exercises in this book. If Dancing in Your Bubble helps you to define yourself, then it should be considered a success.
I was lucky enough to win a copy of this fun workbook from GoodReads. I haven't done all the exercises in the book yet but the few I have done are revealing in a softer way than many other self help books I have purchased. While the book is easy to read I found I wasn't always sure how to do an exercise because the instuctions were either very vauge or not exsitant but at some point the exercises were discussed in later chapters which allowed me to go back and really complete them. I like the fact that there are extra worksheets in the back of the book along with a glossary for some of the words.
Dluznieksi offers philosophies and spiritual healing techniques from the cultures of the high Andes with nods to philosophies and psychological techniques with which readers might be more familiar. Lovely full page black and white photos introduce each chapter.
Although I haven't worked though this book, I love the way the reader is invited to be an active participant with many workbook-style pages and even opportunities to draw and use color. It's a very hands-on approach to getting oneself in sinc with one's higher self through writing, art, and very personal rituals.
