I really wanted to enjoy this book, to read about the beautiful amazing pure miracles cited in the Quran, backed up by science. I wanted to read about the mountains, and the oceans, and bees. Things that are complete amazement in this world. But unfortunately, this book was a real disappointment and, at times, very disturbing, especially as a woman reading it.
The author did not have a lot of evidence to back up his thoughts, he sort of just put a bunch of his opinions together and tried to find quotes or facts to back himself up. What upset me the most were his last chapters on women. His opinions were not backed up with evidential science and Quran quotes, it was mostly himself spitting hatred, blame and control over women. A chapter titled "A disease that afflicts any woman who dresses immodestly" was the most bizarre thing I have ever read, in which the author is stating that skin cancer is a disease that was sent from God to punish women who wear short dresses. As someone who lives in Australia, with the highest rates of skin cancer, we know as science tells us, that men are more likely to get melanoma skin cancer than women, and for everyone the most likely places to get it are on the face, especially nose, and hands. These are facts. If you are wearing a short dress, or a hijab, your face and hands are still exposed. His chapter here was not a miracle of the Quran, just a fear mongering campaign, backed up with zero evidence.
He had another chapter dedicated to cursing intermingling of the sexes. He claims with a bunch of one sided facts that he found, about assaults on women happening in only mixed societies. This is not an unchallengeable miracle of the Quran backed up by science. Assaults happen against women in every country, every culture, and every religion. The only thing to blame for assaults on women, is the person, or people who committed the assault. Nothing else is to blame for someone's awful actions. Other concerns I have about this book are about women need to only stay in the home, not in the workforce, and especially not mixing with men in the workforce. He writes that if, and only if, a woman has more to offer she can work in women related fields; teaching, medicine and nursing.
Women have the right to not feel guilty for existing outside of this man's beliefs. It is disturbing, upsetting and in no way ok what is written down in this book. One man's opinions and no evidence, connection or support.
I will continue to marvel in the miracles that God has given us on this beautiful planet, but I will not support this book, and the messages inside, and you shouldn't either.
