Ballonstrip.
François Bourgeon is a French comics artist, author of several noted European comic books. Bourgeon was originally educated as a master stained glass artist, but difficulties in finding employment and a passion for drawing altered his course onto a different career. Getting illustrations published in magazines from 1971 eventually led him to pursue graphic storytelling and to develop his craft over the next few years. When the Les passagers du vent (The Passengers of the Wind) series was serialised in Circus magazine in 1979, it became recognised as one of the most important European comic series of its era. His graphic novels have ranged from nautical and medieval historical fiction to science fiction, and characteristically, within settings of violence and sexuality, epic stories revolve around strong female characters. He lives in Cornouaille in Brittany. (Source: Wikipedia)
This series was already unforgettable at the start of this tome but LEGENDARY status was achieved as it closed.
Absolutely exhilarating- I have never spent so much time reading per-page inthralled with it all! The whole time I wondered how he could possibly stamp a definitive enough ending to the complex adventure within the amount of boards ahead of me yet he did so magnificently in MASTERPIECE fashion!!
Since all of the intricacies of each characters' situation couldn't possibly have been addressed, he had to leave the story a bit open<->ended but did so naturally without being ambiguous at all so that satisfaction is gained in full with a delightful take-away curiosity. There are two thick additionals, done many years later, which I will eagerly indulge!
It was so wonderful that it's one of those which I cannot review because I would ramble too much about the the ins, outs and what-have-yous of the narrative and do not possess the propropriate art-lexicon to do that justice.
{and I'm so far behind on entering my read books- let alone the 19 that I need to create first.}
book#00042, Vol. 5. Mark: average, but pretty well written [!] C+. 3. I read the German edition of this book.
