Rate this book
The unforgiving wilderness of the Rocky Mountains forced a boy to grow up fast, so Nate King taught his son, Zach, how to survive the constant hazards and hardships--and he taught him well. With an Indian war party on the prowl and a marauding grizzly on the loose, young Zach was about to face the test of his life, with no room for failure. But there was one danger Nate hadn't prepared Zach for--a beautiful girl with blue eyes. Available now.

Frontier Mayhem: Wilderness Series, Book 25
David Thompson (Author), Rusty Nelson (Narrator

Almost gave up on this book as the intro was rather slow moving. Since the audio speed can be increased I’ve set it at 1.25. The story picks up.

Nate King is married to a Shoshone woman named Winona, she has a native name of course. Zach, their son is a half breed and suffers the insults such heritage elicits from the racist ignorant. We meet him tracking a wounded Elk. His younger sister is Eve and they bicker like most siblings.

Lou, Louisa, dresses male and lives in the wilds with her trapper father. They are attacked by renegade natives and her father killed.

Things become interesting when Zach and Louisa meet up on the trail. Every good Western seems to demand at least one romance.

And so begins the second generation of a Western Adventure Series.

Using various pen names this author has written hundreds of pulp fiction tomes. The books are larded with lengthy descriptions and sub plots that interrupt the action and keep the reader waiting for the plot to move forward.
