I love family first and foremost, which is why writing family sagas and stories that involve family is so much fun. Maybe you can tell that from my books since they always feature the warmth and joy and ridiculousness that comes from having a close-knit family.
I also love animals and have taken in rescue dogs and cats and fostered dogs for the local animal shelter.
And of course, I love writing. All I need is a functioning brain (batteries not included), a pen, and paper, and I can write anywhere. Please don’t let a conversation with me lag because my imagination takes over and I. Am. Checked. Out!

Chase Larson spots Emma Worth at the cocktail party he's at, the woman whom he spent a night with two months ago and whom he then lost in New York City. The woman who's there with her father Ronald Worth as the latter sells his company Worth Industries to Chase's step-brother Rafe Cameron's Cameron enterprises.
This is the first book by Day Leclaire that I'm reading and it is off to a great start. Both Chase and Emma have an unfavourable opinion about the other based on their previous experiences. And the way they take in the news of a probable pregnancy was so sweet, first for a Harlequin!
Twenty-five to his thirty-three, Chase wants a shotgun marriage. Something he demands due to the way he suffered because of his messy family dynamics. My heart hurt for both Chase and Emma, for what they faced in their tender years and how it still continued to cloud their emotions, their life. In spite of Chase trying to protect her, Emma is a strong lady who doesn't let anything interfere with her decisions. I was glad to have read a Harlequin after a long time where both the protagonists are on an equal footing and how! Business decisions aside, even how Emma's adverse opinions affected the takeover, it was so heartfelt to see Emma and Chase share light-hearted moments.
And before I forget to mention, the takeover of Worth Industries by Cameron Enterprises has its own level of mystery attached to it. No wonder I love the Desire line of Harlequin Books so much! This one had overbearing daddies on both sides. So much fun. Lol! And when Emma meets Chase's biological father The Barron. That was epic!
The more family, the merrier. I loved the time spent by Emma with Chase's mother and stepfather. Especially after reading a review full of spoilers of the final book which has some solid revelations. Yep, I love reading spoilers even if I personally don't write them.
One minute life proceeded along normal, if turbulent channels, and the next it was unalterably changed, never to be the same again.
What did you think? That there will be no drama? Of course, there is towards the end even in a place as laidback as Vista del Mar. I'm still not sure whether I want to read any of the other books in this series though. I know I'll be missing out on the future of this cute couple but this would have to do for now.
I quite liked this one. The hero is a nice honorable man. The heroine is in no way a wimp. The story is well written and the plot makes sense and is well developed. The emotions of the hero and heroine were believable. I see shades of other books to come but this is not just a big setup for future books. The characters that I suspect might have stories in future books all have a part to play in this one. All in all a very well written story.
Okay this has a short story about the hero's brother Rafe at the end. so I went looking for an actual book about Rafe. All I could find was another short story at the end of a different book that is supposedly Rafe and Sarah the 3rd part. Where is the 2nd? and is this not going to be an actual book on its own? I'm confused.
Honestly, I rarely bother to review or even add Harlequin's books into my reading list (sorry Harlequin!) because I read quite a number of them and almost all of them is pretty short (though I rated some of them here at GR). Hence I didn't add them to my "read" list cause to me they're not a full fledge story or book. How wrong of me. So very very wrong! After reading this one, I realized that none of the Harlequin's published books deserved to treated like that.
This book has about less than 200 pages or so but it's filled with overflowing emotions, mind blowing writing and starred by "real" characters! Really, I'm totally floored by this book. The main story is about a woman had a one-night stand with this mysterious guy. Then she found out he's the man who were dealing her father's company sale. They found out later that she's pregnant. Sounds pretty common right? All the usual stuffs are there after all and well, let's be honest it's not the first time we ever heard this kind of plot, are we? That's where you are wrong! (well, it's me actually) The author pulled of the "usual-common-stuffs" story into a roller-coster one! The attraction, tension, emotions of the characters are spin wonderfully throughout a pretty short story ( I consider 300 pages below is short). I laughed, I cried with the characters, and I even grinned idiotically at their antics (the ringtones! :D).
I'm proud to say that never again I will look at Harlequin's books with the same attitude as before. This book changed me. This book shows that even though the word counts or no. of pages is pretty low but if it's done right, it has chance to become one hell of a story. Many many applause for Ms. Leclaire. Thank you for writing this. :) Job well done!
Solid 4 stars!
P/S: Sorry again to Harlequin and the authors! Gomennasai!!
This book is by far, my top 3 favourite Harlequin/Mills & Boon book. I've read so many stories on accidental pregnancy and the reason I love this book is because both hero (Chase) & heroine (Emma) face the issue without being nasty towards one another. With other books, hero tends to bully heroine into a shotgun marriage. However in this book, Emma doesn't give in to Chase's demands easily.
Both Chase & Emma communicate well whenever a conflict arises. I love the tender moments between the couple because they are genuine. My favourite scene is when Chase and Emma go on an impromptu house hunt. Chase makes a huge commitment to Emma and their baby. Since the beginning of the book, I can feel Chase's genuine feelings towards Emma.
Never underestimate the quality of writing in a Harlequin/Mills & Boon book. Give this book and author a try!
This book was enjoyable, but not the best I've read either. It didn't suck me in like some of my favorites have, but it also didn't bore me. In trying to put my feelings into words for this review I keep coming up with the following: "It just wasn't quite there." That goes for all aspects. There could have been more to the plot. There could have been more to the smut parts. There could have been more to the dialogues, to the descriptions. The list goes on.
I will say that Chase's brother Rafe irritated that crap out of me. I just wanted to punch him in the face and knee him "where the sun don't shine". :o)
It was an enjoyable, quick book that kept my attention. I do wonder if it had been any longer if I would have gotten bored. So, in that regard, I wonder if it wasn't just the right length given the writing style and plot.
After having a passionate affair weeks ago, Emma Worth and Chase Larson realize they are on opposite sides of a contentious business deal. Worse than that, Emma discovers that she's pregnant. Luckily the heat that originally brought them together is still there. But trying to make their romance last requires something more than overwhelming passion. At the very least, can they get their feuding families to get along.
This was a solid story but there wasn't really that much conflict between the protagonists. They were both scared and cautious, but ultimately they both always wanted to make their relationship work.
Claimed: The Pregnant Heiress by Day Leclaire, is a typical category. Hero(H) and heroine(h) spent one night together, they meet again at some party where the H's stepbrother is buying h's father company. Sparks are still there, turns out h is preggers. Hero wants to marry her since he was illegitimate, heroine is not sure. And there it goes.

This is a great story. Doesn't start of with a lot of romance but when Emma and chase realise there's more then attraction between each sparks really fly. Chases brother Rafe starts a war with Emma father and takes over worth company. At the end of the book there's a short story about Rafe. It's a great look at what he was like younger.
A complex and emotional story, I really enjoyed seeing Chase and Emma grow together. Particularly with Emma helping Chase heal some wounds with his father and past. I'd give this a solid 3 Heart Review and say you would enjoy this book and it would be a fast read.
I liked Chase and Emma so much I read the other books in this series (written by other authors). Chase is one of the few can make Rafe see beyond his need for revenge. He is the perfect half brother and an equal force with which to reckon.
Continually misread this title as "the Day LeClaire Claimed the Pregnant Heiress", and was disappointed every time to find out that this was not, in fact, the case (or the title).
Pretty much your average Harlequin romance. One of the better ones that I have read recently and a fairly quick read when I wasn't busy reading other books or busy with regular life stuff.
Read this book because someone I follow on here read it. I have the paperback and it was a nice read, really sweet, a bit too slow for my taste but that’s just me. It was a bit of a drag and I felt there was a chance for more twists in such a short book to keep me reading. The ending made me really want to continue reading the other books in the series💕
This caught my eye due to the author, whom I've read some previous works. Right now, all that I can say is that this story is a good start for the series. I can't wait to read them all!
I usually stay away from books that involve babies. This wasn't all that bad. Well, considering she's pregnant and doesn't have the baby during the course of the story...
straight forward, no angst w/ mature (I can't believe I am saying this) h and H (in a harlequin, that's pretty rare!) Warning: not a virgin h Overall, 5 stars!
