"Do They Know It's Christmas Yet?” Part 3 is here! And it starts right after the end of "Did They Steal A Million Yet?" How long can Tash tolerate 1984? And how about 1985…in another country?
The reluctant time travellers are spending one final Christmas together - although only one of them knows it. So, why the hell can’t that be straightforward, either? And do Raymond and Maureen need to be part of every single thing?
Could you play cupid to your brother or sister? And how long would you throw at it? Thirty four years? Grab your passport, this is going to take some time…
Why has this series not been made into a film or at least a tv series? Absolutely hilarious, one catastrophe after another. Excellent characters who are so real. Thanks for wrtting!
As with the other 2, this is a must for anyone who grew up in the iconic eighties. The characters and relationships between them are so real and hilarious. The concept of the plot seems ridiculous but James Crookes makes it totally feasible. Looking forward to book 4.
Yet again the author doesn't fail to deliver another fantastic read. To anybody who lived through the 80's you will feel a lot of nostalgic love. I can't wait for book number 4.
Oh dear, I really liked the first, enjoyed the second... but this third one is unfortunately overwritten, unfeasibly plotted, and made me both sigh and yet genuinely laugh out loud at times. However the laughs are akin to finding one joke in a Jimmy Carr set amusing.
When it's Jamie, Tash, and Raymond it's great as they're well realised, written and rehearsed cjaracters... but once the others are woven in it's a series of set pieces with genuinely unlikeable people - especially Maureen.
By this 3rd book, the plot is overly complicated, chapter structure is based upon a proposed screenplay for a sitcom, and the dialogue overused and catchphrasey ("put your hand down", "...ssake")
I won't be doing anything other than finding crib notes for book4...
Oh my gooch! Best yet! This has to be the funniest installment of the Tash & Jamie time travel adventures yet. James Crookes’ narration is a perfect mix of comedic timing & empathetic story telling. This latest saga is as fresh & original as the previous two books and did not disappoint. No pressure, but need a fourth book now!
Tash and Jamie back in the 80's. This is what I needed. Funny to the point where I had to stop so I wouldn't finish the book too quickly. The 80's imagery was hilarious. Great story. Please Mr Crookes can we go back again?
The third in the Do They Know Its Christmas Yet series and we pick back up for Christmas 1984 where Tash has decided to spend the holidays with Raymond, Maureen and Jamie, along with baby Raymond too. Things are ticking along, Tash wonders why she ever came back and then a surprise delivery arrives prompting another mad cap adventure that sees the gang travelling to Menorca and having many more humorous dialogue. The new OMG acronym Jamie makes up may just be my new favourite thing to say! I thought that this being book 3 it was likely to be the end but judging by that epilogue it looks like there's more to come and I cannot wait!
Absolutely love this series of books. This new one didn’t disappoint. Keep them coming. Love all the 80’s nostalgia and great story lines and characters.
These books by James Crookes are side splitting funny so much humour and great one liners, all I wish is that he would write quicker so I can read the next episode of the Tash, Jamie, Maureen & Raymond tales - loved 🥰 this and the other 2 books to bits x
Wow another fab journey with Tash, Jamie, Maureen and Raymond in this 3rd bumpy ride and it didn't disappoint. Poor Raymond he really does go through the wringer. Can't wait for next one
Another fabulous read so funny and yet more memories revisited from the past, looking forward to book 4 I just hope poor Raymond gets through the next one in one piece
I have read all the books in this series and love the story of tash and Jamie. Although how many things can go wrong to 4 people in a story is a little to much. But yet I hope there is another book as still have unanswered questions like how do Jamie and Martha finally end up ?? A good read though and enjoyable.
A very funny series of books, combining two of my favourite things - time travel and nostalgia. Like many third parts in a trilogy (or is it?) at times it falls between trying to repeat the success of the first two and strike out and do something new. The mid-way point switch to summer in Menorca was certainly an abrupt climactic change from Xmas in England, but it did reinvigorate a plot that was starting to drag a little (and the Maureen and Raymond double act was given a new lease of life in the process). So it's more a Back to the Future 3 than a Return of the Jedi. Certainly worth your time, and still crying out for a televised version.
Bravo James Crookes!! Never fails to disappoint. I love Jamie and Tash! Did she change the time line though? Had he still visited her on Christmas Day? What happened to Martha really?? Where did Jamie vanish to? JAMES!! When’s the next one?? 😃
Loved this series of books and the amazing stories. Fun thinking of Raymond and Maureen who sound like an idiot auntie and uncle everyone has, Jamie and Tash's relationship growing and of course great music memories accompanying the time travelling escapades.
So easy to read really gets you hooked. So funny and the characters you can really imagine them doing the most stupid things because of how they have been set up right from the start. Such an enjoyable read look forward to reading more.
It is really good when you encounter characters that draw you in and you don't want the book to end. I have really enjoyed the three books so far. Very highly recomended.
Hilarious. Just madcap farcical adventures one after the other. Maureen and Raymond really give me Pam and Mick Shipman vibes. The levels of 80’s detail cracks me up. This might be favourite of the 3 so far. Thought this was going to be the last one but looks like there might be more yay, cos these are now a Christmas must read.
