Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort est un prêtre catholique français, né le 31 janvier 1673 à Montfort-la-Cane en province de Bretagne (aujourd'hui Montfort-sur-Meu en Ille-et-Vilaine) et qui est mort le 28 avril 1716 à Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre en province du Poitou) (de nos jours dans le département de la Vendée). Il est le fondateur de deux congrégations religieuses : la Compagnie de Marie (les Pères montfortains) d'où seront issus les Frères de Saint-Gabriel et une congrégation féminine : les Filles de la sagesse. Béatifié par Léon XIII, en 1888, il est canonisé par Pie XII, en 1947.

Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (31 January 1673 – 28 April 1716) was a French Roman Catholic priest and Confessor. He was known in his time as a preacher and was made a missionary apostolic by Pope Clement XI.

As well as preaching, Montfort found time to write a number of books which went on to become classic Catholic titles and influenced several popes. Montfort is known for his particular devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the practice of praying the Rosary.

Montfort is considered as one of the early writers in the field of Mariology. His most notable works regarding Marian devotions are contained in The Secret of Mary and the True Devotion to Mary.

The Roman Catholic Church, under the pontificate of Pope Pius XII canonized Montfort on July 20, 1947. A "founders statue" created by Giacomo Parisini is located in an upper niche of the south nave of Saint Peter's Basilica.

After having read and done the "33 Days to Morning Glory," which was very good, I decided to do the original by Louis de Montfort. Although I'd had it on my bookshelf for some time, it seemed difficult. That is why I started with "33 Days." When it came time to renew my consecration, I picked up St. Louis de Montfort again, and surprisingly, it didn't seem difficult at all! In fact, it was wonderful. I highly recommend this book for those who are familiar with Marian consecration, and even for those who are not.

Great book. Its a book that has directions and you really have to interact with, rather than read straight through. But Louis De Montfort is the real deal when it comes to Marian Devotion.

The best

As a converted Protestant (Southern Baptist/NonDenom), I struggled to understand devotion to Mary. Growing up in Baptist churches, it seemed like Mary had a one-line biography. Then, as I convert to Catholicism, I’m met with a canon of Marian lore. How do I reconcile this?

I’ve read several books on Mary, including Scott Hahn’s Holy Queen (can’t recall the title exactly). Most were helpful, but I still couldn’t properly comprehend some things. This 33-day consecration to Jesus through Mary was exactly what I needed. I finished my consecration today at Saint Therese’s Basillica and the main thought I’m left with is: To understand God’s will, you must abdicate your own will. And there’s no better human example, aside from Jesus, than Mary.

Book 103 of 2022 — Total Consecration to Jesus Through Mary by St. Louis de Montfort

I completed the beginning of this consecration along with many other listeners on Hallow. I plan to complete the full consecration this next week.

I highly recommend a spiritual habit such as this. It took me a long time to start adding prayer to my daily routine. I have found that listening to a leader makes my mind much calmer than silence. I enjoy going through these heavy religious texts in small pieces.

Let today be your day one on a new positive habit, whether it be spiritual or not!

This is a great prayer tool for the person who is solid in their faith and are able to understand the role of Mary in their faith. If you are able to understand that Christ is number one and Mary is a tool to strengthen our relationships with Christ, then this book is a wonderful opportunity to draw closer to both Mary and consequently Christ.
