Ryder Carroll and Christian Isham have never gotten along. In their small Texas town, they're constantly at odds. Which is why it seems like some kind of cruel joke that when both of them go on gay-friendly vacation for Christmas, they keeping meeting up in unexpected places.
The thing is, once Ry and Chris see what lies beneath the mechanic's coveralls and the buttoned up school teacher, they're so intrigued that they can't stay away from one another. Can they find any common ground beyond the physical attraction they've unwrapped?
Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her hounds and her beloved wife, texting her grandbabies, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting, and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. Following their own personal joys, BA and Julia heard the call of the high desert and they now live in the New Mexico mountains. BA's personal saviors include her wife, her best friends, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to cowboy daddies to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which is committed to giving everyone their happily ever after. With books ranging from hard-hitting BDSM, to fiery passions, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
HOT HOT HOT!!!! YOWZA!!!! Christian and his pierced... well, EVERYTHING!!!! PHWOAR!!! And Ryder, a mechanic AND a cowboy??!!! Wait... I forgot that in addiction to the piercings, Christian is FULLY tatted up with black ink!!! FREAKIN' LOVED IT... A smokin' hot, yet remarkably sweet story....
An unlikely couple bumping uglies on a cruise ship.
If their town is so sheltered I don't get where or why Christian would get all the tatts and piercings, if he's committed enough to have those done wouldn't he move away? Why would the town mechanic and 'favourite bad boy' hold sway with the 'old boy' network? More so than a respectable man who teaches their kids.
The attraction is based on lust, despite them not liking each other and I don't see any connection between them other than the sex, which starts before the 40% mark and doesn't stop from there, I found myself skipping pages. Christian apparently allows things he wouldn't with other men, like what?
When the pov character changes the voice doesn't. Same reasoning, expressions, motivations, attitudes, behaviour. It takes away all sense of antagonism and chemistry. Both take a turn sulking in their rooms... I wanted more personality, a believable clash, some sparks.
To me this story is more about convenient fuck-buddies than a HEA. Read for the sex, not the story.
I don't give too many 4 star reviews for shorter titles, but this was one hot story!
This is the story of Christian and Ryder an is told from altnerating POVs of the main characters. Christian is a teacher in a small Texas town and Ryder is a mechanic in town who has dogged Christian for years. They literally "run into" each other on the Rainbow Holiday Cruise. Both are closeted at home and they never expected to see each other. As they continue to have awkward and unwanted encounters on the cruise, they both admit to themselves that the other is sexy as hell even though they don't intend to do anything about it given their relationship at home. Ryder then says something really mean to Christian and Christian walks away. On Christmas Eve the once again run into each other at the Disco. A hot steamy encounter occurs. Let's just say they had a really nice Christmas and rest of the cruise.
Christian is a buttoned up school teacher. Ryder is the town mechanic who has given Chris nothing but a hard time since high school.
Christian takes a two week cruise were he can let his hair down and be himself.
Ryder takes a two week cruise were he can let his hair down and be himself.
Everywhere Ryder turns, he keeps coming across this walking sex god in see-thru shirts, tattoos and piercings and he doesn't recognize the button up, ice prince that he gives a hard time to try and break through that icy exterior.
Ryder was hotter than Chris ever imagined. He had only every seen him in loose coveralls at the mechanic shop. Black cowboy books, black jeans hugging all the right places and tight black tee. Who can resist rubbing up against that on the dance floor.
These two are smoking H.O.T. And the dirty talk *fanning myself* was fantastic.

PROS: - The premise is amusing: two closeted guys from the same town bump (and grind) into each other on a gay cruise. - The sex is hot. The guys jump right into bed together, which normally I don’t like, but I think in this case I excused it because the characters have known (and disliked) each other for 20 years.
CON: - The story has a suggestion of a Happily Ever After ending, but it’s so short that I couldn’t quite make myself believe that everything would end perfectly for the two men.
Overall comments: It’s too short for any significant character development, but I thought it was decent for a story that has only 400 Kindle locations. The relationship it depicts is more of a fling than a romance, but there are some pretty hot sex scenes.
What's the chance of two in-the-closet guys from the same small town ending up on the same cruise? Pretty high if you read this entertaining and very steamy short story. I really enjoyed Unwarpped. Both of the guys are likable and well drawn and the HFN, with a strong sense of a HEA, ending was well done. And did I mention it's a steamy, sexy super hot read too? If like me you're a fan of this author you won't want to miss this one.
This was a fun short. I loved the characters and its such a great situation that they find themselves in. Nice and steamy, but a little too short. I'd have liked to see more of the things Christain says he's done with Ryder that he hasn't done with anyone else. I'd also like to see more of them - find out what happens after the holiday season. But all in all it made me smile and painted pretty pictures in my head (OK, naughty pictures but don't tell anyone).
Two very different and very closeted men from a small town find themselves on the same Rainbow Cruise. At first they continue their cantankerous relationship, but then they decide on a different kind of relationship and they hit the sack ..again and again... I would have liked a small look into what the future held for them.
This little story is what it is... a little story. A brief glimpse into the lives of the two MCs who were totally clueless the other was gay, until of course they met up on a gay cruise... and then you can guess what happens.
It's a good quick read, it doesn't make any promises it can't keep... though I'd be curious to see what happened after the cruise was over...
Fun and hot short story about two guys from the same town who thought they hated each other, but- after repeatedly bumping into one another on their shared cruise- find out they have a lot more in common than they originally assumed.
Christian and Ryder are co-workers and they don't like each other. They unknowingly sign up for the same cruise ship vacay and discover 'hidden depths' in each other (ahem). Sex on a ship! Lots of rockin' and slappin' onboard but is there more than just sex?
This was a quick read, just what I needed. It was more sex than a story. You were routing for the characters all the same. I wish we could have gotten a glimpse of the characters when they return from the trip. HFN is good, but I did want a little more. Cute read.
