Megan Delaney thought she'd sleep easier with Sgt. Royce Wolfe right in the next room, all six feet five inches of him sprawled on her sofa. But after what she'd been through, a good night's sleep would be a long time in coming....
At first, Royce was just doing his job -- checking up on Megan, making sure she was safe. And now, he deserved a punch in the stomach for what he was thinking about the woman. He wanted her, wanted her bad. But a big BAD Wolfe was the last thing Megan needed....

This is… interesting, I guess? That’s really all I can think. It reads like a 90s Harlequin Presents author read a couple of academic books about rape and interviewed some law enforcement officers and then wrote this book, in which our heroine is attacked by a “hulking, rough-voiced man” in a parking lot but manages to get away before she is “violated” and instead of running back into the restaurant starts the car, where she promptly drives off the road in front of the hero, who is a state police officer. It feels uncomfortably remote, as though the author is going down a list of Reactions Which Women Have To Near-Sexual Assault per the state trooper textbook she reviewed. Like, I appreciate what the author is going for here and that Harlequin was publishing this kind of thing in the 90s, because I think it’s important to have fiction which deals with sexual assault in a sympathetic manner and oh boy do I remember the shortage of that Back In The Day, but it’s not actually a good book, and takes a (not unexpected, but unfortunate) cop-out by having the heroine attacked by a stranger in a parking lot. This is not a book which is going to confront the more problematic aspects of category romance heroes.
Is this a good book for modern readers? No, not really. Was it probably a good thing that it was published when it was? Yeah, sure. I settled on three stars because, like I said, it's very much a product of its era and I appreciate what it was trying to do within that context.
I absolutely loved this book and should have been a 5. But... I think the ending was too abrupt I need more. Did they marry? Did she ever meet the family? or What about the other guy interested in her?he gave up after one call? yet knew something was not right with her? Royce Wolfe, the Hero is fantastic. He is kind and loving. The Heroine is strong even after the ordeal the went through. I soo want to read the read Big Bad Wolfe series. All the brothers sound great.
Bourala auta, jedli, kupovala auto a to je asi tak všechno. Detektivní „zápletka“ je víc než chatrná. Zlosyna sice chytili, ale jak hrdinku vypátral, proč ji pronásledoval atd. autorka prostě neřeší.
