“Society, rather than valuing us as full human beings and empowering us, socializes us to focus on attracting, giving to, and pleasing others.” ~Caroylnn Hillman

This was a great book discussing why women primarily suffer from self-esteem issues caused by pressures of society, upbringing, and abuse and neglect, as well as discussing how to begin to recover a lot of those insecurities. It was a really informative read filled with examples of patients that suffered from different types of insecurities, what caused them, and how each of the women began their journeys of recovering their self esteem.

Unlike a lot of books on this topic, this one focuses a great deal on exercises to boost self esteem rather than just explaining the problem.
