When a dominatrix named X is kidnapped by a man with CIA credentials, she is given a choice: dominate a billionaire named Terry Compton or suffer the consequences. But there are a few things that she should know. The CIA has reason to believe that Compton has been funding the movement of artillery through the Middle East. And another thing, there's a possibility that Compton murdered his last dominatrix, a CIA agent.
Edge Play X starts simply enough. Whip him and plant a bug. Tie him up and take a few photographs of him in case the CIA needs to blackmail him later. Unsure if the government is telling her the truth about Compton, X doesn’t know what to believe or whom to trust.
X's journey takes her out of the dungeon and ultimately on to discover the true nature of S&M. After she goes to Paris with Compton and encounters Simeon at an orgy, X’s life gets even more complicated. Torn between three men—Compton, Simeon, and Michael, a man who genuinely seems to want to help her—X forms a plan to free herself from the situation and get some clarity. But other players have different plans in mind for X.
Original, provocative, and seductive, Edge Play X is an erotic thrill-ride that will leave the reader wondering who is ultimately dominating whom. It’s time to experience S&M fiction at its finest with this cult-classic in the making.
This is not a light read nor meant for titillation as some BDSM books are or do. This is a serious Book on edge play that will mess your mind with the psychology and reverse psychology of it. The illusion of who is in control Domme or sub. First the story plays it as the Domme...X who is blackmailed by the CIA, is to put herself into a life threatening situation of Domme over one of the richest and most powerful men Terry Crompton, who wishes to play the role of sub. X does this in order to protect her brother. Money comes into it in large quantities. There is pain, pleasure and some extremes that do not fit in safe, sane or consensual. Nothing is how it seems, everything is deliberately twisted but mainly clear by the end but it does as it says in the title...it is edge play, with the characters, the storyline and with you the reader and your perception of what your made to follow and take onboard. It's uncomfortable at times, a thinking persons read, it's good...generally fairly good English, an occasional error here and there. I can't say I loved it...it's not a situation within the BDSM world I would want to be part of even as a witness. Fascinating, enthralling, intrigue, like, dislike, moments of fear and horror, concern and empathy with X, all these emotions came into play and I'm glad I read it. M.Jarret Wilson put a lot of thought into this book and storyline and twisted a few on the way. I wouldn't read it again. I will give it 4 stars....it's a clever read and a long one too.
The ending saved this book from being a complete washout. Perhaps it's just that it finally reached the conclusion that I had forecasted at the start and therefore appealed to my vanity. Rife with minds games that perhaps entertain those who weren't born in a crucible and overblown prose and pretentious language that gave me eyestrain from so much rolling. I thought I would have to rail against the delusional marxist rhetoric X manages to spew forth, yet acts in direct opposition to, but thankfully, no. If one likes mindfucking, especially where everyone involves really deserves it and has the fortitude to endure proselytizing than this is a decent read.
P.S. X's art is so derivative, it's kitsch. Dogs Playing Poker are more original.
What did I just read? That was such a good book. Totally did not expect the ending. I love me a good mind f**k and this definitely delivered on that. Wow. Just wow. I wish I could rewind and read it again without knowing what happens it was so good.
This was not what I expected. This story kept my attention. At times it was difficult to keep track of who was thinking. It’s not one of my favorites. I gave it 2 stars because I wanted to keep reading and see how it ends. Just not my cup of tea. The ending was very unexpected. I don’t think I could really recommend to read it.
I really don't even know where to start with reviewing this book. When I first started it I really wasn't sure the book was for me because even though I really enjoy a good BDSM book I am not really one to read from the Dominatrix perspective but the characters were intreguing enough for me to continue. The book took me longer to read then most books do and it really isn't that long. I think this may have been because of the Domme perspective I'm not really sure. However, do not give up on reading this book even if you aren't sure because the last act is a complete mind f**k!! I have to admit that I didn't like what happened but that only adds to the element of WTF did I just read.. I am a pretty advent reader and some of the words in this book I wanted to look up regardless of the fact that I could get the gist of what the author was trying to say. I could tell that this book was really well researched and the vocabulary was beautiful. I think I will have a special place in heart for this book even if it's not my usual type of read. I can definitely see how some people won't appreciate this book and it will probably ultimately piss them off but to me that is just the sign of an intellectual author who breaks the norm of giving people their happily ever after. Well Done!
The book did make you think that it was going one way and then by the end was totally different. For that reason it made it an interesting read, but the end left me unsatisfied and bummed which is why I gave it two stars. Some of the sex scenes (if I remember correctly, since I read it quite some time ago) were a bit sick.
Very interesting book. The second half went better than the first half. However, I didn't fully engage with any of the characters. I do recommend the read. The story is heavy on dominance and submission and sadomasicism. I definitely like the suspense and tried to figure the ending out many times.
Omg such a great book, action packed in every page. You have X who is a dom and she is kidnapped and blackmail or threaten by the CIA to help them get information on a wealthy business man Compton. You begin to see all the players and you think that you gave it all figured out when it takes a turn you don't expect. I know you will love this story.
I gave this book 5 stars because it really deserved it was a great book. It kept me engaged and the characters were well-developed. The plot was very interesting I'm not sure why didn't get great reviews because I'm giving it five stars. Without giving too much away ,I love a book that has a surprise ending.
Absolutely loved this book...everything about it...yes..level that twisted, mindf*** twist of an ending was great.
This story will bring you some awesome, sometimes crazy femDom scenes that will include domination, submission, BDSM, humiliation, kidnapping, mild violence, oh and major plot twist!
Do not read ahead! My jaw litterally dropped open at the conclusion. Edge Play X is well written. Characters and their foibles are described in detail. I could easily picture them in my mind. I didn't see the ending coming at all. This book is worth reading just for the surprise at the end! However, l enjoyed the whole story immensely.
i'm rounding up because i occasionally think of the ending once in a while. it was a twist at the end i didn't see coming. this was the first book i read that involved this kind of mind f**k.
i did like this - i think - i have just been so busy that i couldn't really concentrate and some bits were that heavy that i really felt i struggled to get into it properly by reading a good chunk - kept reading a few pages and falling asleep as so exhausted. will re-read on holiday!
I loved this book! I like how it took the BDSM genre and made it so much more. The author did a great job delving into the minds of the character. I WANT A FOLLOW UP BOOK PLEASE!!!! Bravo M. Jarret Wilson!!
I liked the start and did not like the twist and ending very much, it felt forced to me. I liked X and Michael and wanted to read more about them. Not a fan of Simeon and Compton. I needed more from this book, more edge play, more dominating, more X and was left feeling empty.
Although this book has a huge twist that I didn't see coming (I generally don't read reviews because I like to go into a book with no opinions) I really didn't enjoy it. The plot/idea of the book was good, but it was poorly written and executed. No other words, only disappointment.
this book can not be summed up in words. this book is complex. it has sex, violence, deceit.. it even has some aspect of love,/hate. it was a very interesting read.
