Wedding Games is book 5 of the Kinloch series by Evie Alexander. It is a rom-com novella told from both POV with a HEA.

Tropes:
✔️ small-town
✔️ grumpy – sunshine
✔️ men in kilts

I can’t believe this is the last book in the Kinloch series and we’re saying goodbye to Rory and Zoe! Evie had the entire cast of characters from the series back and up to all their hilarious shenanigans. I loved the main characters from the previous books as well as the crazy, out of control secondary characters that had me in stitches.

Fans of the series will love this last installment, and if you’re new to the series I strongly suggest you read it in its entirety although you can read this and all the books as standalones.

Within its short length, Wedding Games has all the ingredients of a great romance: humor and fun, steam and romance, great characters old and new (Evie introduces Lord Henry Foxbrooke, from her next full length book).

Evie’s books, long and short, are without fail a welcome escape.

4.5 stars – Ding, dong, the bells are gonna chime!

Hello and welcome to THE wedding event of the season!

Weddings, eh? What is it about impending nuptials that brings out the best and the worst in families? With W-Day fast approaching for our OG Kinloch Crew couple, Zoe and Rory, it’s gonna be a miracle if both sides get there unscathed… *snorts*

I was cackling from the off; you can take the lass out of Scotland but you can’t take Scotland out of the lass, eh Mary?! Zero effs are given when this Mother of the Bride gets together with her bestie, Morag. Filter? What filter?! Quick tangent: certain memories were evoked where I felt the need to have a post-mortem with The Mommy over her past exploits. Ah, the stories I could tell…

Then you add in Rory’s mother, Barbara, aka Mary’s arch-nemesis… *coughs* it gives a whole new meaning to ‘if looks could kill’.

Charlie totally stole the show for me. What can I say? All those tattoos and sarky wit are like catnip to me *sighs*. Plus, he’s taking his role as best man very seriously with some hilarious consequences.

Mrs McCreedie didn’t let me down either! *mutters* Only now that chuffing song is making the rounds in my head again *pulls hair*.

My only grumble was I wanted more Rory and Zoe time. Don’t you look at me like that! *folds arms* We all know I’m a greedy mare, and *points* while we’re at, why wasn’t Basil part of the wedding party? *nods* Yes, I know he’s a Dumbo Rat but that’s by the bye… (There is just no pleasing some folk! Yes, I know I’m talking about myself in the third person *rolls eyes*)

With a cheeky wee introduction to some of the characters in Evie’s upcoming Foxbrooke series, WG will have you raising a glass to toast the end of a much loved series and its characters as they all enjoy their HEAs.

This was a perfect ending to a series. Wedding Games felt like the ultimate reunion episode to your favorite sitcom, where all the characters you came to love rejoin for the very last time. And, wow! Was this get together a big fun ride!

Rory and Zoe’s wedding (and the days leading to the Big Event) was full of shenanigans, Scosecco, and fooleries. There was a rivalry amongst mothers that got completely out of control, a hen do that ended where it shouldn’t, (step)fathers starting a bromance into the wild, innuendos all over the place - but all in the best of bestest way. It was so good to see Rory and Zoe, Fiona and Duncan, Valentina and Charlie, and Sam and Jamie together! I loved it!

Wedding Games is a novella, the last in the Kinloch series and while it could be read as a standalone, it makes more sense to read this finale after reading the full length predecessors. And while it’s a novella, it contains all the ingredients of a perfect romantic comedy: a LOT of humor, hiccups on the road to the Happy Ever After, some more humor, a grand gesture, and I was surprised (but I shouldn’t have been) that there were even spicy steamy scenes in between. Also, at the wedding we got a glimpse of Lord Henry Foxbrooke, a shy guy that is going to be the main character in Evie Alexander’s upcoming The Foxbrooke Series. I can’t wait to find out his story!

Lastly, I received an advanced copy for free and leave this review voluntarily.

Evie Alexander is an award-winning author of sexy romantic comedies with a very British sense of humour. A self-confessed ‘method writer,’ Evie has taken it upon herself to live a full and messy life, from which romantic and personal failures become fodder for her laugh-out-loud plotlines. Imaginative, passionate and frequently called ‘bonkers’ by her friends, Evie’s interests include reading, eating, saving the world, and fantasising about people who only exist between the pages of her books. Her novel Highland Games won Best in Category in the The CHATELAINE Book Awards for Romantic Fiction and Women’s Fiction 2021.
Evie lives in the West country with her family, where she pens her steamy stories from the Smut Hut.

“Do things your way.”

Rory and Zoe are finally getting married. They just have to survive their mother's dislike of each other and their friend's determination to make things a spectacle. Will the walk down the aisle happen?

Well, I cried through the last several chapters of this book. Having been an arc reader from the start, I am so invested in these characters and this story. So this was very much like a friend getting married.

I enjoyed this novella. I loved the group being all together, and I loved the celebration of love between Zoe and Rory.

The speeches were fantastic, both heartfelt and hilarious. It was great being reunited with some favorites from the last books. This was such a lovely conclusion to this series.

As sad as I am to be saying goodbye to this incredible cast of characters, I look forward to whatever hilarity, and chaos Evie brings next.

This is the perfect ending to the amazingly entertaining Kinloch series! I could not stop laughing while I was reading this book! From page one I was in stitches!

Mary and Morag were hilarious! Nothing like some crazy middle aged moms getting ready for the big day. Barbara and Brad were… well… Barbara and Brad :)

The best part of this novella was the return of all of the characters from the series. The friendship that these characters share reminds you of those close college friends whom you stay in touch with and when you get together it's like no time has passed. I could not stop smiling reading all of these shenanigans.

At the heart of this story is the unending love that Rory and Zoe share. We all need a Rory in our lives!!!!

I'm so sad to see these characters go but I am left fulfilled and happy knowing that they are all in an amazing place!

I've just been to the wedding of the year & it had it all: humour, emotion, more humour, romance & a little spice.

Evie Alexander has a way of writing that just simply makes me happy. If you've read any of the Kinloch series you'll know what to expect. Wedding Games is a hilarious weekend trip to Kinloch with all our favourite characters from the series. I didn't think I could love Charlie any more than I already did, but turns out I was wrong.

We even get a sneaky peak at what is next for Evie & I am here for it. The only problem with Wedding Games is that now I've read it I've got a wait on my hands for the first boom in Evie's next series 😂

Well, I'm a little late to the party....as this one has just been released - but that is great news for you all, as you're able to order it now and enjoy it for yourself!

I've read some of Evie's books before but no others in this series (yet! - I have the rest in my tbr but wanted to get this one done as close to pub day as possible) but I have to say that this still didn't spoil my enjoyment of this little novella.

This is book 5 in the Kinloch series and so characters are already well developed and really jumped off the page. All very likable and with their own personalities and quirks which made this a really fun read.
I loved the girls' friendship and loyalty to each other and the scrapes they got into here and those hinted at from the past.
The lads ...well, their banter was something else! Hilarious!

I was super intrigued by the two mum's back story which I'm hoping will be explored in a previous book.... I'm definitely reading back!
Again, this is written in such a way that these are easily read as stand alones, as the past events are hinted at and a little described so fit perfectly into this story, without having the need for the whole thing - but I really want to know more too!

The setting was dreamy - an Earl's castle with a hunky man and a gorgeous, fun-loving, down to earth girl...completely in love and getting married. This really was a fitting venue for the nuptuals.

Of course, there's a little smut going on too - what else would we expect from the queen of the smut hut - steamy.

I love Evie's writing style - it super easy to read - great fun - likable characters - with a touch of spice - just perfect all round - loved it!
Can't wait to catch up on the rest of the series 💕

** I also listened to this on audio book and what an amazing experience! I loved hearing this read (as intended) by the wonderful Evie herself! **

💌 Say ‘I do’ to Scotland’s wedding of the year! 💌

I’m so excited to share this book with you! We first meet hot Scottish grump Rory and firecracker Zoe in Highland Games and then follow their story in Hollywood Games . I always wanted to write about their wedding as there was such a lot of comedic potential, especially when all the other characters from the Kinloch series are involved…

I had an absolute blast writing this book and it is hands down the funniest story I have written to date. I still snort-laugh at certain points and I hope you do too! And, as well as the comedy, rest assured there’s still the steam that many of you have come to love and expect from me.

Wedding Games is a 34k novella and can totally be read as a standalone, but it’s even more delicious if you’ve read the rest of the Kinloch Series first.

If you love:

👰 A beautiful bride
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Hot men in kilts
😮 High drama
😍 The best of friends
💖 Swoony romance
🤣 A Bachelorette party that doesn’t go according to plan
🔥 Just married steam
🥂 Speeches to bring the house castle down

Then you need Wedding Games in your life!

“Ah! I don't think there's anything more spectacular than getting all of the Kinloch series characters together again!

The absolute absurdity that is Brad ("the Magnificent") Bauer and the trouble he causes with Zoe's dad... Zoe's mum and Morag are an absolute handful unhelped by the animosity wafting off Zoe's mum and Rory's mum.

The fun and hilarity of all the hoopla leading up to the wedding, Rory's stag do and Zoe's hen do, to all the wedding festivities hijinks will have you crying so hard with laughter from the situations Rory, Charlie (the ringleader of trouble), Jaime and Duncan, but mostly the girls: Zoe, Sam, Fiona and Valentina find themselves swept up in.

Wedding Games is overflowing with wonderful heart-felt emotions that make you feel overwhelmed with love, friendship and family. No one else offers up the love, laughter and steaminess quite like Evie Alexander, so do yourself a favor and grab the Kinloch series now for one the best series to ever hit your TBR.”

“Rory and Zoe just want to get married with as little fuss as possible. (Zero fuss at all if Rory has any say.) However, as quite often happens with weddings, family involvement sets in motion a series of chaotic events, including but not limited to the resurrection of an old feud, some extremely unnecessary communing with nature in the Highlands, and a whole new take on a hen night stripper.
Hilarious scenes notwithstanding (and there are plenty, although my favourite might be Zoe's initial wedding negotiations with Barbara), this is also a tale of love - not just between Rory and Zoe, but the love between friends, between parents and children, between those who have been together for years and those who have found unexpected happiness later in life. All that love culminates in a truly memorable wedding, which serves as both a fitting end to this excellent series and an intriguing glimpse at the Foxbrooke family whose stories are coming next.”

Oh my gosh, this story was probably one of the funniest of the whole series! It was a shorter novella sized story, but I did finish it in one day, almost one sitting. I was even laughing out loud while I was sitting in the chair getting a pedicure. Between the hen night antics, and the stag night craziness, I almost could not stop laughing. I guess I didn’t remember Rory’s friend Charlie being quite as hilarious as he was in this story, but oh my gosh, sooooo funny what he added to the wedding as the best man. Honestly all the characters were in rare form with the jokes and craziness. There was the eccentric Hollywood star Brad who had married Rory’s mom, who did both help out with the tension between Rory and Zoe’s moms, but also created a bit of an issue with going out into nature with Zoe’s dad and getting lost/stuck, and then there was his speech/turn as the person in charge of all the wedding speeches. Zoe’s mom and Morag got up to quite a bit of craziness whenever they’d start drinking.

I could go on and on, but really if you like to laugh, this is the book for you. Some funny British vs. American term jokes, like a spotted dick line or two. It was also good to maybe get a tiny peek at the characters that I think make up the author’s next series.

Loved this “ending” to this series!

I liked reading the portion about the wedding planning. I should've read the series in order because it's written as if the characters are already familiar, but they aren't to new readers.

Everything felt very rushed. The pompous secondary characters made it a hot mess. Instead, Rory and Zoe should've gotten more scenes with just the two of them. The tiff between the moms contrasted well with the mutual admiration society with the dads. I didn't understand the significance of the title because there were no games in the book. I dislike that they met and started dating in another book, but it isn't even mentioned in the recap here. This book just takes off from their wedding planning, so it's confusing for readers who are new to the series.

I like that the author has dedicated a separate page for ARC readers to share media graphics.

Although chaotic, some parts were fun. I can see why people who've read the series will like it.

Anyone who has read all or some of this series will have been highly anticipating Zoe and Rory’s wedding; I know I certainly was. Of course, nothing goes quite smoothly and the whole thing is a hilarious farce, even edging into the realm of slapstick at times. I definitely expected more steamy times from this one, so I was slightly disappointed by how little time Zoe and Rory got together on the page, but I loved seeing all the couples spending time together. This novella really solidified how solid their bonds were and made for a satisfying series conclusion.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A fitting finale for a fantastic series! The wedding of Rory and Zoey is finally here … and craziness ensues! Family and friends all gather to celebrate the wedding. And, just as in any family, there are jokes, laughter, a long running disagreement, drunken antics and love running throughout.

Evie stayed true to what we love about these characters. And while I will miss these friends, Evie teased the introduction of the Foxbrooke family. Looking forward to meeting another group of family and friends and their adventures.

I wholeheartedly recommend Wedding Games.

A wonderful novella to tie up Rory and Zoe's story (unless you read the Evie and Kelly duos, which carries them further!)
There are some really hilarious one-liners - Evie, you never fail to have me crying in laughter.
I love this whole colourful cast of characters. It's been a fantastic series.
You meet Henry Foxbrooke and lo and behold there's a Foxbrooke series mentioned at the end of the book, I hope to fall as much in love with that (seemingly complicated) family as I have with Kinloch!
Another absolute hit!

This book made me laugh and cry so many happy tears. After reading all of the other books in this series I was so so excited for this wedding to finally happen and oh my god evie did not disappoint. Every one of my favourite characters were causing mayhem in the best way! I honestly don’t think I’ve laughed reading a book so much in my life. In my opinion this book is a masterpiece that I will read over and over again. If I could give 10 stars I would this is a must read if you guys are as obsessed with this series as I am.

What an epic end to this series of books. You really must read the others before this one to get the full sense of it, but, you could read this as a stand alone I just don't think that you will get everything from it.
The book starts with Rory's mum's wedding, briefly but hilariously and then the lead up to his own wedding with Zoe.
The family feuds, mishaps as drunken episodes had me laughing out loud.
I will give a warning that there are some graphic steamy sex scenes but these are short as this book is storyline driven.
As a writer Evie knows exactly how to spin a tale to its maximum even when you feel things can't get any worse.
I loved the interaction with all the characters in this book that first appeared in previous books. Hence the need for you to read the other books in this series.
So don't just read the review, go on, get out there and buy the books now lazy bones. See if you enjoy them as much as I did. I'm sure they'll put a smile on your face too.

Wedding Games by Evie Alexander is an absolute cracker! What an epic addition to the Kinloch series and one that I'd highly recommend to anyone who loves steamy, romantic comedies. This book will have you laughing from start to finish and it's so brilliant to catch up with the familiar characters. The chemistry between the lead characters, Rory and Zoe, is electric (as always) and the steam factor is off the charts. I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. If you're looking for a story that is both heartwarming and hilarious, then Wedding Games is the perfect read.

You are definitely going to laugh out loud with this RomCom. Rory and Zoe are still perfect for each other. The Wedding week is the perfect nightmare for Rory. Poor Rory but Zoe and his friends are trying to make everything better. The in-laws for both of them are the real nightmare here. I was lmao with Brad occurrences, that boy; Mary, Barbara, Morag omg they are hilarious. All their friends came to the wedding so you are going to see all the Kinloch Series characters here. Rory and Zoe finally get the future they wanted and their wonderful HEA.

Wedding Games is a novella filled with a lot of laughter and craziness that goes along with these fun characters. This is the 2nd book of this series that I have read - it is the 5th and last book of this series. It can be read as a stand-alone but it definitely would help to read the previous books.

This book had me laughing so hard! The characters were just hilarious…from Mary and Morag getting drunk being so loud earplugs were needed to Zoe’s Dad getting lost in the woods with Rory’s eccentric step-dad Brad! The fierce rivalry of the mom’s, the great (long) wedding speeches to Rory’s ear piercing singing…all with some spicy scenes mixed in there. It was a great way to end this series! It was lovely to see Zoe and Rory get their HEA!

The love and friendship amongst all of these characters just really came through on the pages. I cannot wait to read more books by Evie!

Thank you to BookSirens and @eviealexanderauthor for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Rory and Zoe just want to get married with as little fuss as possible.
All that love culminates in a truly memorable wedding, which serves as both a fitting end to this excellent series and an intriguing glimpse at the Foxbrooke family whose stories are coming next.
Thanks to the author and Booksirens for the advance review copy; all opinions are my own.

I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to the author, who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of her book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.

When i saw that this book was coming out i absolutely couldn’t wait to read it! I have been waiting for Rory and Zoe’s wedding all throughout this series and it certainly doesn’t disappoint…

The whole story was wonderful with some very funny moments that had me in hysterics!!

All the usual characters were there at the wedding of the year, all from previous books and they all came together for this amazing ceremony.

I couldn’t read this book fast enough, as i needed to find out that everything was going to go smoothly with the wedding.

I loved how all the characters got their own little story and that they all contributed to the main story.

Wedding Games was hilariously funny, romantic and just what i needed to read. Well done to Evie, on another amazing addition to the series…….

I have loved reading the Kinloch series. This book was everything I wanted and more. As sad as I am that the series is finished, this was a fitting last book.

It's time for Rory and Zoe's wedding and things are out of hand. From them trying to rein in Barbara's extravagent society wedding plans to being a referee in the showdown of mothers, I howled with laughter. With all of the characters from the series present at the wedding, this was the best reunion ever. And the stag do? I was in tears laughing.

This book deserves a million Scosecco soaked stars!

Funny and romantic...perfect end to the Kinloch series! Also, drama with the in-laws! And a new character introduced that apparently will be the start of a new series...can't wait!

Loved this cute and funny wrap up to the Kinloch series! It was the perfect way to put a period on these characters and this series.
