He studied at the University of California, Berkeley. Getting graduating with a BA in mathematics in 1975, received a Master of Science in 1976 and several years later accomplished his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Oregon. He died in Nîmes, France in 2015.

Ta książka jest znakomita, jednak wydające ją w Polsce PWN kompletnie skopało tłumaczenie. Masa błędów w liczbach, dwuznaczne polecenia w zadaniach czy definicje, które brzmią jak ułożone przez sześciolatka. Trochę kiepsko to wygląda, drogie PWN, a cena książki to ponad stówka.
