I think this book was probably sexist in the 90's. Honestly, this author was highly recommend by someone who's opinion I normally trust, and I generally think there's some good advice in here, unfortunately for me it's overshadowed by the general discomfort I feel when someone is trying to force me into a gender role.
Aimed at women (who read most self-help books), this approach gives practical ideas for getting unstuck from unsatisfying situations by changing your response to them. The premise that dealing now and in the future with the situation and yourself (the only variable you can control), instead of focusing on how the unhappy situation evolved, is particularly useful.
The book had great information but I was highly disappointed that a proof reader did not catch the error in "throwing free throws" thus the rating of three instead of four stars.
