This book and deck provide an important key to past life recall. Each of the 28 images is a visual representation of a particular world culture that will bring into focus the times and places of previous incarnations. The symbols of the Phoenix Deck will trigger unconscious memories that will enable you to see yourself more clearly and help you develop latent talents, identify lessons that must be learned, and explain irrational fears, attractions, and impulses.
This is the first divinatory tool especially created for studying past lives to better understand the present.

When it comes to reincarnation, I'm sort of on the fence. I don't wholly reject the idea, but I'm not ready to embrace it fully. I'm actually really not in love with the concept. Putting that aside, I still like these cards and I am willing to use them to explore past lives and even other aspects of the psyche beyond the creator's intent. The guide book is pretty thorough in delving into the meanings of the cards' symbols and providing spreads for the deck. The incredibly specific ways the author instructs the reader to shuffle the deck for the different spreads does have me scratching my head. The same can be said for a couple of points of history related in defining certain cards. These sticking points are, however, minor and do not diminish the usefulness I see in these cards.
This book serves as a guide to the Phoenix Deck. It's really comprehensive and for someone that is interested in focussing on past life readings it's an essential tool. It must be remembered it was written in the '90's and as an Australian I thought some of the comments in the Dreamtime section referring to Aboriginal Australia were somewhat odd. However, overall this deck and book have been a handy tool.
