District Judge Katie McKinley takes her career very seriously. No one knows that better than her old childhood friend and first love, Graham Bishop. Her ruling cost him his family’s ranch. So it’s no surprise when an attempt is made on her life that the sheriff turns his suspicions to Graham. As the two rekindle their love for one another, Katie refuses to believe Graham is guilty. But what if she’s wrong?

Being a judge is not easy or the decision she is having to make, Someone she knew is now a suspect, can she be open to when she knew him before. Until Graham can prove to her and police he is innocence Her books are always good to read as this one was and have reread many times Given audio which added to the story for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Loved the way this book was written in terms of characterization. The bad guy was caught a little too suddenly - I would have enjoyed more at that plot point. I definitely want to read more buy this author, however.
I will begin by stating I love Anne Patrick. I have listened to quite a few of her books, and they always engage me and keep me interested. This one quickly became one of my favorites. I love second chances, and Katie with Graham was perfect. Katie and Graham grew up together, were best friends and were always in love...though never expressing their feelings. Katie dated other people, resulting in a terrible car crash that changed her life. Both Katie and Graham married other people, both of their spouses dying at young ages. When they both came back home, they were forced together, first in court where Katie was the judge, and then sometime later by mutual friends. Graham helped her work through losing her marine husband, loved her twin sons and protected her from the evil that was still lurking around her. The suspense of the whodunnit was definitely worth the listen.
As always, Leonor A Woodworth delivers the most amazing performance. I love her narrations. She can be calming, emotional and crazy all within minutes of each other. I also love that you can tell which character is speaking. Her voices are distinct. This is a must listen!

Katie receives another threatening letter when she gets back to her room. This makes the 3rd one. She finally goes to the sheriff with the notes. He asks the Judge if she has had any problems in her court room. She immediately things of Graham her old friend from back in the days they were little. Katie’s friend Tracey works hard on getting Graham and Katie back to being friends. He wants to help katie find out who is after her and why. Katie feels bad for Graham as she knows deep down he is not the one who is behind all this mess. When Graham starts coming around more and spending time with Katie’s boys she knows then he’s innocent. Who could be behind this threats? Can Graham save her before it is too late? I have read several of Anne’s book and this is one of my favorites. The characters are well written. Tracey was my favorite. She is all up in Katie’s business and helps her anyway she can and tries to stay innocent so to speak as well. Katie is strong and yet weak at some points which make her human. It is also nice seeing Graham and Katie work through several misunderstandings. Anyone would enjoy this book. I highly recommend this book.
Really good, entertaining, interesting and enjoyable Christian romantic mystery. Definitely worth your time.
A clean second chance at love story.
Katie and Graham were both great characters. The story has the perfect mixture of mystery, suspense, romance, family a HEA and faith.
Leonor A. Woodworth does a really good job with the narration. Great character voices. Clearly spoken. Pleasant voice. She was able to convey all of the emotions of the characters. Her narration pulled you right into the story and brought it to life.

The team of Anne Patrick and Leonor A. Woodworth did it again! Ms. Patrick writes another romance novel with Christian values, showing that God still answers prayers in His own way and in His own time. Her characters are real and well rounded, getting the reader involved in their lives. As narrator, Ms. Woodworth does an amazing job, giving the reader all of the emotions of the characters. I look forward to more from both of them.
You'll love this book! It has everything; love danger faith and family
I am interested in women who are the criminal justice field. This was an epic story of what these courageous women face and overcome. Her faith and Christian values were evident in her life and rulings.
District Judge Katie McKinley takes her job very seriously. Serving God in a position that brings awesome responsibility and, sometimes, great sacrifice is never easy. Neither is raising twin twelve-year-old boys without a father.
I enjoyed this book. I was expecting a lot more suspence. This is more of a romance book. It was interesting and it was a clean read. It covers faith, hope, second chances and love of God.
It was okay, it wasn't all that great but it wasn't terrible either. Very average characters, and a bit of a blah plot. Recommended: I guess, it's not bad and it's a quick read Buy/Borrow: Borrow.
Answered prayers and come true dreams. “Life on earth doesn’t get much better than this.” Another great romantic suspense that author and narrator bring to life! Awesome read! I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook; I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own.
Anne Patrick is a new to me Author and I enjoyed this book tremendously. It kept me turning pages to find out who is trying to kill Judge Katie McKinley and for what reason. Katie is dodging bullets while caring for her 12 year old twin boys and renewing an old romance with Graham Bishop. This is a very good book and I will be reading more of her books.
This book was an excellent Thriller that keeps you on the end of your seat and has a great ending! It has some Christian inspiration, but doesn't really go into talking about God or Christianity or the life of a Christian that's an example. But, it is a very good book.
Judge Katie is in danger and is not sure who is out to get her. They think it might be Graham her old high school sweet heart. But the police officer doesn’t believe it is him. Who can be out to get her?
This was an enjoyable, relaxing romantic suspense. It was heavier on the romance and relationship part than the suspense part but that was okay. I liked all the characters.
This book was very engaging from the beginning and I didn’t want it to end. It had the perfect mixture of suspense and romance for me. I will certainly plan to read the rest of this author’s books!
Katie is a judge who follows the letter of law when determining her decisions. Now someone is trying to kill her…
Ms. Patrick makes her characters very vivid and real so it’s easy to relate to them. Her female lead is strong, vulnerable, and still hurting from her husband’s death in Iraq. She is surrounded by loving friends and family and this story is Christian themed.
The author builds suspense by having the stalker send threatening notes to the judge and then escalating that action to attempts on her life. Ms. Patrick set the story in a small town where everyone knows all about everyone else, so the suspects list isn’t very long until she starts factoring in the defendants Kate has had in the courtroom. Several of them have threatened Kate in the past. The suspense then kicks up another notch while the sheriff and her friends check them out.
I liked the way the author created an old boyfriend from school as a suspect. She gives him an ex-cop backgound and he has to walk the fine line between proving he’s not the stalker and trying to help Katie stay safe. This conflict between Graham and the sheriff is exactly how it would be in real life. With no alibi, Graham was quite outspoken in court himself over the loss of his family ranch, so he makes a natural suspect.
There was an old romance between Graham and Katie and the author fans that flame to life again. Katie is conflicted again because she hasn’t had closure on the issue of her husband’s death.
With all the issues Ms. Patrick adds to the story, it sounds like life as it is and is an interesting story. All those factors tie together to come a solid story. It’s a very good read.
