About the author

Paul Elder

Paul Elder has spent a lifetime studying human nature from a unique perspective. He is a survivor of three near-death experiences: a drowning at the age of 12, a car accident at 17, and a heart attack at the age of 41.
Along with the trauma and subsequent beauty of death came a series of spontaneous spiritual events — events that would rock his world, turning his belief system upside down, leaving him with some profound insights as to our true nature and purpose in the universe.
After spending nearly a decade as a Radio and Television news reporter, Elder ventured into a career of politics and business spanning more than 20 years. Forever grateful for his near-death experiences, his spiritual insights helped to mold and deeply influence his approach to politics, business, and life.
A trainer for the world renowned Monroe Institute, Paul lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and spends his time writing, teaching, and speaking throughout the United States and Canada on the phenomenon of near-death and out-of-body experiences.

Eyes Of An ANGEL: Soul Travel, SPIRIT Guides, Soul Mates, & The Reality Of LOVE” provides unforgettable insight and its title names three of our beautiful cats. It stands apart from other writings about near death-experiences, even though those are valuable. I deem it important that this be more widely-read! The contents are even more solid and thorough than “Many Lives, Many Masters” by Dr. Brian Weiss. That was eye-opening about what doesn’t matter, like religiosity. However it was limited to a few spirit guide messages, with readers at some distance because the encounters were his patients’. Paul Elder’s information comes from surprising trips outside our physical turf.

This Saskatchewan mayor met a garden in Heaven, spirits of loved-ones, a spirit guide animal, a library with our lives’ records, and even a glimpse of Jesus working with souls! What is remarkable is that this was not one event. He learned we can stretch our consciousness past our body, by raising our vibrations! We have surmised that the afterlife exists at higher vibrations than Earth, in addition to our bodies dulling our souls’ range to send and receive communiqués. This book confirms it! Science experimented with this... successfully!

That is the other distinction. In most stories, spirit encounters are so fleeting and limited; little is answered. Paul frequently posed questions to his guides and they did not once glibly reply: “That isn’t for you to know yet”. They ANSWERED EVERYTHING he asked, with detailed, logical, scientific explanations! I give four stars due to two awful stories about puppies I wish Paul had omitted, or resolved, by visiting them in spirit. However, whatever your impressions might be about how life works: this book is revealing beyond expectations. The only thing that matters is how we treat others. Everyone should read this book!

In a similar vein as Robert Monroe's Far Journeys and Michael Newton's Journey of Souls, Paul Elder captures many of his experiences out-of-the-body and in various altered states. Elder admitted to having no desire to write this book and then, after several different sources told him he needed to do it, he still procrastinated. Through much help from his spirit guides and angels, the book is available for all to read. Many of the topics addressed I have seen described in other books, but Elder's personal experiences and straightforward language made for a thought-provoking, heart-touching read. With every depiction of someone engaging with the spirit world, I feel a little closer to it, though I personally have never had any OBEs, NDEs, or anything of the kind (at least, that I am aware of!). I hope Elder finds it within him to write more books about his experiences for those of us still rooted to the physical plane.

The cover and subtitle of this book gives a completely different idea of what this book is actually about. I would call it a memoir of a man who spent a lot of time at the Monroe Institute for Out of Body travel and consciousness exploration. The author tells of his experiences at his trips to the institute as well as his out of body experiences at home. A fascinating, quick read for those who are interested in this subject matter. The author writes in a manner that pulls you into his experiences and leaves you wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book. Whether you believe in this type of thing or not, it certainly gives one something to think about. I believe you would have to be open minded to like this book. If you already have your dogma in place, I think you may want to pass. The end is left rather open so I hope the author writes a follow-up.

When it comes to near-death experiences, I tend to be a believer: I consider some of these experiences authentic glimpses of the other side (with all that smoke, gotta be some fire!). But Paul Elder is too far out for me. I agree with his basic spiritual perspective (God is love) but can't get on board with all the rest of it. Found myself wondering whether the guy just has an over-active fantasy life or is actually suffering from a neurological disorder (of course, pathological liar/attention hound/money-seeker are other possibilities, but not sure I'd go that far). Watching a YouTube interview did nothing to dispel my skepticism but activated a bit of compassion--the guy's eyes look deeply sad, even miserable (who knows why?), despite the uplifting nature of his spiritual message. All that said, I gotta say I didn't put the book down--read to the very end. Gave it three stars because it's actually quite entertaining if you just read it as (mostly?) fiction!
