Jasmine Ambrose was a top magazine model - beautiful and seductive - until her jealous husband took his hands to her, carving her into a creature that he swore no one would ever want or love. Just before killing her, Ezra is apprehended by the police and sentenced to a maximum security prison. Yet, there is a copycat on the loose, killing off other models from the magazine firm in the same method that Ezra had used on Jasmine. As fear of the copycat killer keeps the NYC police department on the run, Assistant District Attorney Paul Chevalier must do everything in his power to keep Jasmine safe and alive - all while battling his own inner demons and facing the fact that he is falling in love with the scarred model. "Jasmine" is a riveting romantic mystery that will keep readers on the edge of their seat, biting their nails and begging for more.

Me?

What's to say? Let's start with my favorite quotes (Yea, cynicism is almost a religious thing with me)

"The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it."
George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

"Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist." George Carlin (May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008)

I've been writing ever since I can remember. I love it. More, I love being Indie.

I was born and bred in Chicago (many places in the Cassandra's Cops Series actually exist! I used to live in John's building!). I currently live in Southern California with my husband, Marty, my ex husband Don (don't go there, it isn't even remotely what you're thinking, ya perv!) and three great kids!

Being Indie, I can (and do) publish what I want, when I want. Perfect examples of this are found in Michael and the issues addressed in many of my books and stories. I've been told I make people think. Praise don't get higher than that!

"Jasmine" is a romantic thriller in which author Crystal Brewton takes her literary talents to new heights. This story of a woman - physically mutilated and emotionally scarred - begins with a shocker and never lets up. Jasmine Ambrose, once a beautiful model for an up and coming magazine, has been attacked and nearly killed by the hands of her jealous husband Ezra. Although Ezra's intentions for her were death, the police intervened and saved Jasmine's life, sending her husband away to a maximum security prison. Yet, as it seems, a copycat killer has taken to the streets, following in Ezra's mutilation tracks and taking it a step further with cold-blooded murder.

The person in charge of keeping Jasmine safe and sound is A.D.A. Paul Chevalier - a man who witnessed his own father brutally abusing his mother long ago and testified to send him to jail. The personal nature of the crime touches him deeply, to where he allows his emotions to take hold and he finds himself falling in love with the model.

"Jasmine" was filled with more twists and turns than I was prepared for, and it made for a crafty and riveting novel. Like a fine wine, author Crystal Brewton and her tales definitely get better with age. This novel, perhaps, is the best that Brewton has written, as it kept the romance and excitement blossoming, budding, and blooming from start to end - like a well-cared for jasmine plant. Brewton handles the task of crafting a voiceless, muted character delicately, and she stages her scenes with intensity and frequent, confident chills.

All in all, "Jasmine" is the perfect novel to enjoy during the cold winter months, as well as the other seasons of change. Although some of Brewton's previous titles - including "Michael" and "Alienation Victim" - deal with hard-hitting subjects and deliver breathtaking literary thrills and achievements, I believe that it is with "Jasmine" that she has finally created her masterpiece.

Always the Mistress of Tough Topics, Crystal Brewton is again at it in Jasmine, a heart-wrenching story of a woman who has everything stripped from her… by the hands of her abusive husband. In an amazing show of strength, Jasmine never once gives up. She even finds a way to trust again and let a man into her life. Her strength of spirit coupled with the love and support of her friends guides her to seek the closure and security she needs to get on with her life.

Ms. Brewton has a way with difficult subjects, taking them in all their horrible, offensive glory, embracing them and putting them on paper for all to see. While many authors shy away from subjects such as sexual abuse and domestic violence, she takes them within and makes them into something more. Something that usually has a happier ending.

If you are looking for a meaty story with a strong, if a bit damaged, heroine, then look no farther. Any of Ms. Brewton’s many stories will fill this bill, but Jasmine is a special story, a guilty pleasure, if you will. Not only do you get your admirable heroine, your handsome yet sensitive hero, and a few laughs along the way, you get a bonus with this one: complete satisfaction.

Probably one of the author’s very best works to date, Jasmine is sure to please, outrage, and completely entrance.
