Rate this book
When you decided to stay at home, you probably thought about the quality time you'd spend with your kids and the wonderful meals you would cook. Maybe you even thought you would do some decorating or take up yoga. Later you realized things would be different. Your house is messier. You still have days where the kids drive you crazy. And then you wonder - what did I get myself into? Relax. Domestically Challenged can help. Written as a humorous guidebook, this book will show new stay at home moms how • Keep the kids entertained without hiring a circus
• Find ways to keep up with housework, short of hiring a housekeeper (though we'd like to!)
• Deal with the emotional aspects of her new job (including boredom and every mom's favorite – guilt)
• And do such outlandish things such as finding time for herself.

The best book to help one get focused before the big jump to stay-at-home momhood. She writes for the educated and talented woman who just needs some help to have realistic expectations of what her new life will be like and might need help gettign her ducks in a row before taking the plunge. The book helped me a lot by making me feel like there were other SAHM out there like me who needed help applying their many talents outside of the home to the world of parentig and gasp! running a household.

I got about 70 pages into this and found out the author 5 starred her own book on the Goodreads reviews...twice. Left such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn't finish it. Too bad too. It was a cute little book, and the author has that funny snarky voice that I love in a novel. I just couldn't listen to her anymore after that. I took it back to the library and moved on.

While what I read was a cute read...it wasn't anything that I haven't heard before, and FlyLady has a much more detailed organizational system. This book was more of a supportive friend saying...it's okay to leave the dishes sometimes.

Although I didn't read the entire thing, (I skipped over the parts that I didn't really felt applied to me), it was a helpful book in my current thinking of being a SAHM. I liked her writing style, although some of the snark felt like it was trying a little too hard, but overall it was a good book.
