A Cold and Calculating Tail was a fast paced mystery with a lot of cheesiness. Sophie is a junior reporter that is assigned to a case to prove she is ready to be an investigative reporter. She has a lot of help solving the case from her talking cat named Callie. Overall I thought this story was cute and I got a chuckle out of most of the character names. However, I did find Sophie’s character to be somewhat annoying and a little oblivious of things. I’m interested to see how this series progresses and how/if Sophie’s character becomes less annoying.
A Cold and Calculating Tail is the second book in the A Talking Cat Cozy Mystery (A Sassy Sarcastic Cat Cozy Mystery), from author Rachel Woods. This book was a pretty fast-paced, very intriguing read. I found that I did not want to put down! I finished it in one sitting. The story had a bunch of great, complex and detailed characters. The story has very vivid descriptions in great detail. This book kept me captivated from the first page to the last. A cute and fun read! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A cozy mystery very different than her books I'd read earlier.I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This was a fast-paced, interesting read, that I found I did not want to put down! Great, multi-faceted characters. Vivid descriptions. Kept me captivated from the first page to the last. A uniquely-cool read!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Interesting tale about an aspiring woman journalist, Sophie, who comes out of a coma and is able to communicate with a calico cat named Callie. Diamonds get stolen, people are murdered and the cat plays an integral part in the investigation. Callie is an independent, snarky cat who is totally lovable.
I love the detailed details in this book, it is a fun, easy to read story with lovable characters. The interaction between Sophia, Calico and Officer Chutee have me giggling especially with the "What did he say" parts of the story. I found the storyline to be a joy to read and I recommend adding this book to your must read list.
I couldn't visualize any of the characters, although I felt I might be culturally biased against talking cats who run free and speak hamster as well as human.
The heroine is easily confused and does really dumb things. Guess I really like characters who take control and are smart. One of those stories where I really didn't care a bit about the ending...
Acute and enjoying story Love Sofie and her sassy cat Sofie is a young journalist who is trying for her big break She tracks and murder through many twists and turns.
Callie, a talking calico cat, has chosen Sophia as her human though only Sophie can understand and talk to Callie. Sophie is trying to make it as a journalist and is trying to solve a murder. Callie is helping by talking to other animals in the area to get clues. Enjoy this cozy mystery.
