Texas is the boss of a crime syndicate, much like our time but not. The story revolves around Texas and his two slaves, who are brothers. The work was inspired by yaoi art.

Warning: This world is make believe. It is not a true representation of BDSM or the lifestyle, even with BDSM like scenes and terminology. It is a work of fiction.

I got this one recommended because I found the first book in The Slave Breakers series to be way too light and cute and sappy to be even called 'Slave Breakers'. I wanted something itty and gritty and worthy of a dark slave theme.
And I got my wish and more, because light and cute this story was not! Okay, to be honest: there were some almost sappy parts but then again: all that violence and torture needed some balancing out.

There was lots and lots of sex in this story, yet it never felt like a smutfest to me. That's because sex was pretty much a means of communication in this book. Hate, anger, desperation, hurt, adoration, love... sex was a way to express all of the emotions and thoughts. And because the author addressed themes like loyalty, friendship and emancipation, the book actually had substance. Also: towards the ending several sex scenes were even glossed over and it never got overly descriptive.

The story was published chapter by chapter on LiveJournal, so it lacks editing (and that's painfully obvious at some points) and doesn't always flow well. But it's certainly something different and strangely engaging.
There are four parts in the Texas saga (which actually centers around Paul and not Texas).

Texas I: In where we meet Texas and his Kitten and Puppy. I found this to be the most upsetting part of the book. My heart went out to Paul (the Puppy) who gave everything in order to keep his brother safe. I also liked how the author worked with occasional flashbacks. (4,5 stars)
Texas II: In where Paul gets kidnapped and his soul searching begins. I found it really interesting to see Paul not only coming to terms with his trauma but using that as a trigger for self development. (4 stars)
P for Paul: Paul takes a break and learns to read. This one had a totally different feel to it and it lacked substance. Later on I found out it wasn't even written by the same author. (1,5 star)
Texas III: Where Paul's emancipation fully blooms and love, friendship and loyalty are tested. The last chapter was a bit confusing and the story didn't always flow well, but a decent and satisfying ending nonetheless. (3,5 stars)

So, all in all a very different and engaging read. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but for those of you who can stomach some brutality, violence, twincest and a few grammar mistakes here and there: do try Texas!

This story needs to have a warning. Very very dark read, lots of torture, abuse. Not for the faint of heart.Heavy bdsm and plenty of angst. This story was written by a big fan of The Slave Breakers series/author. Check out her site for a great fan fiction story set in that world.
The author's writing was not too hot to start out with, she eventually got better, but I almost abandoned the story at first. But, I like the storyline. A pair of twins, one mute, the other offering his body to Texas(the head honcho of this world) as payment for protection. Texas falls for Kitten, the mute brother right away, has to have him for his own, while Puppy(aka Paul) is left working it out in trade at Texas's sex club. It is immediately clear that Kitten is to be the pampered pet of Texas while Puppy is used and degraded night after night after night. Not that Texas is an easy lover, he is a very violent man and Kitten has to fulfill his needs quite frequently. But Kitten has his own claws and is a good match for Texas. Pup seems resigned with his role in life, anything to keep his brother safe. The world is not a safe place for anyone who is presumed weak. There are wars constantly between the borders, the bosses have to stay on top of things to have control. I would compare them to the mafia, illegal activities, battles won by killing and only the strongest survives. Paul has an admirer though, another powerful man who loves him and wants him for his own. He will do anything to have Pup and is truly in love with the man. What comes next is months of angst, torture, payback for lives lost. This story is pretty intense from the start. It is full of sex, violence, and twisted love. I fell in love with Sal, even with his mistakes, I thought he was the perfect man for Paul. The twins were wonderful characters. So close, yet so different in personality. Both brothers would do anything for each other. And while Paul seems like the one who is the strongest, Kitten comes through in the end. I highly recommend giving this story a try if you like the darker reads. It is intense and does drag at times, but the sex was dynamic. This is harcore bdsm, so if that is not your thing, you may be offended with the scenes. There is even some m/f in the story, but not enough to turn me off. I about had it with the angst and how much Paul had to suffer, but the ending made it all worthwhile. I was also surprised with how much I loved the "bad" guys. Texas was a total dick, but his love for Kitten gave him redemption in my eyes.

So, I know, I know. I read the first chapter and was like what the heck is this?? Kitten, puppy, whippings..what the heck?? Not so much into the Master/Slave possession bit. I like a bit of vulnerability (below the surface) in my masters. I need to see mutual love and respect even though one is the sub and Texas was...well...an ass. By Chapter 3, I was ready for someone to put a bullet in him.

Just stick with it.

Even though the premise of the story is just wrong, wrong, wrong (hence its prominent place of honor in the DMC - Depraved Minds Club Group) I really like where the author took the story. There is no long drawn out angst. The characters are developed at a brisk, yet believable pace and I felt vindicated with each new chapter. This is an author who is very in touch with her audience AND her characters. This is important, and so refreshing!! The characters stayed IN CHARACTER even as they developed and grew and if, for a minute, the author needed to have them try something new (looking at you, Texas) they eventually snapped back into themselves. I was just very satisfied with the progression here.

I LOVED Alonzo to pieces. He was a true, kind and loving master. Even Texas learned a thing or two at the end.

Was very sad to see a certain character exit stage left, but these things happen.

All in all, a very good read. Off to read Part 2.

It's not BDSM......people need to understand BDSM isn't about rape or torture or whoring your partner out.....it's about love, acceptance and consent on free will and trust that develops.....

Here's how the boy was introduced: "A man in black leather and a mask asked the crowd, “Do you think the Puppy will howl tonight? Will he break?” The crowd cheered and screamed. “We shall see!!!”"

Dom: "He asked for forgiveness in the only way he knew how."
How about stop treating him like an object and start treating him like a human being.....

.....-_- that's a bad dom....a very bad dom who whores his sub for money and the sub seems more like a toy because all he ever does is beg for sex.....ugh....oh yeah...no safe word.....

This is more of a story of a pedo/rapist who takes advantage of younger victims who needs a good home...No. He's more like a pimp actually.....I don't think I ever felt this angry at a book before....

Just remember, in this world....everyone is a pedo rapist...... >.> <.<

Overall, entertaining and quick read.

There are some issues that I'm not going to penalize because it's fan fiction and unpublished, which included some timeline hopscotch that really could just be reordered for clarity and some flushing out of the story in spots for cohesion. Characters were good and the scenes action-packed. Loved how Kyle and Paul interacted and Texas's treatment of them was more than disturbing at times.

A solid 3.5

When I was about to start this title, I came across a note by the author on her journal of how this work of hers was inspired by famous manga (Japanese comic) My prize in the “Viewfinder” by one of the best mangakas Yamane Ayano Sensei. The author was equally impressed by “Ai No Kusabi” a Japanese sci fi novel where a futuristic salve / master world is created and played out to perfection.

The reason for the above introduction was because I could evidently feel the influential vibrations reverberating throughout the parts…..but gladly NOT the blueprint. I have read many fanfics on these mangas and I was afraid I was walking into one, but the author decisively kept the two proportional distinguished. When I say the influence reflected, it means I could feel, and see myself nodding to some of the dialogues and actions the MCs of the manga or the novel might deliver them but Texas and Sal held their own dialogues, scenarios and consortium control. I agree that there were major factors overlaying the script with the original(s)
1-Texas’s obsession with his slave
2-The entire syndicate sphere
3-Deadly loyalty given and proven to Texas and Sal by their bodyguards
4-Character resemblance especially Paul’s to the dark haired Riki in the novel while Sal playing the same blue eyed blonde master for his slave as Lason.

When I could finally pull myself out of the torrents of mine, slender, soft, limbs, nape, wrapping legs AND fanatical craving for carrying around their salves I started to truly enjoy the script itself. The entire syndicate ring is well weaved and I was intrigued how established and well oiled Kyle and Texas workings were knot around the entire dilemma Paul and Sal went through. Unfortunately some side characters completely failed to hold my attention but that is often expected in the title consisting of more than 20 characters. I will be honest here. I was more interested in Paul and Sal and they turned out to be the catalyst for my page turner.

My apprehensions came to an abrupt end when I started Texas III. NO, the author did not crash and burned the entire well built arena. The change of a slave from a free man and then back to the confinements of carnal luxuria, willingly and pleadingly at times was gradual, rational and, simply, made sense. I have to say I enjoyed all the three parts and III was more provoking and relatively substantive in matters of the heart and action / thrill.

There were a little over the top moments where you roll your eyes and sometimes unedited script changed from “tolerable” to “just ignore”. But the character and the ever evolving plot kept me grounded. The similarities did raise their ugly head at times, and for me the sex was too much, but if you keep in mind where this title and the author’s perception is coming from it becomes easy to further haze out those embarking silhouettes that inspired this title in the first place. I would also like to explain the inundation of sex. My explanation was that since this kind of script is written chapter by chapter and is updated infrequently, readers expect sex after coming to the script after a period and enjoy the cultivated liaison from their favorite characters. To entice the readers and sequence the entire plot, sometimes sex is induced as a mandatory element in every update to keep the “fire going”.

On a more personal note. I did not find this title to me much grating or raw both in action and slave / sex / intimacy. Maybe because I have read far more gruesome title of this genre but to me this was a mild read. For one, Texas and Sal both were desperately and unconditionally in love and dedicated to their slaves. Kyle had Texas tightly wrapped around his “legs”….literally and the sufficient amount of angst and excruciation came from the bond and sacrifice Paul made. There were no forlorn predicaments drowning me in desolation. If you are an “anchored” fan or something along those lines, you may rate this as rainy afternoon read.

If I am to rate all these individually then Texas I = 3, Texas II = 3.5, Texas III = 3.8.

hmmm...not sure where to start.

i guess for a twincest book....it was ok. there wasn't really a lot of incest happening...and not much sex for how many encounters there was...mostly it just faded out.

it does need a lot of editing though...i wasn't sure where i was at times. it was forever going back and forward between time...and giving a hint as to where you were at. italics would of helped with that...or a little subtitle.

i don't quite understand who Texas could be such a bastard towards Puppy...but love his Kitten so very much. at least Paul got a HEA out of it.

and poor Jug...i was hoping he'd be there for Paul and Kyle.

i'm no longer a twincest virgin...but i'm not sure how i felt....in all senses it wasn't what i excepted....and i'm wondering if i could handle something more?....

I really did enjoy this.

The back and forth between now and then was a little confusing. The sex started out hohum, but got better later in the series. The difference between how Texas treated Puppy and Kitten were interesting, and what kept you reading on. The crime element, was not well done, but not off putting.

I could list all the strengths and weaknesses of the story...but in the end, I enjoyed it, and that is what matters most.

Was a short ok read. Which is why im not rating it lower.

First let's talk about Kitten aka Kyle. So, he loves his brother to bits but is ok with him being injured and brutally raped daily by various clients while Kyle himself is eating popcorn and watching Tv like a pampered pet. Yeah... don't buy Kyle's sudden worry or love for his mistreated brother that suddenly appears by the end of the book.

Next let's do puppy Aka Paul. Paul was the only reason I kept reading since I kept hoping he would get acknowledged or freed from his unwarranted suffering. But it sorta never really happens. He justs goes from one master to another and I feel he suffered too much for too long and bounced back way too fast and seamlessly since he was ok having another master instead of at least taking the chance of finally being free. Then again, he put up with being abused for who knows how long but longer than any sane person woild take, as he watched his bro being loved and pampered while he got the short end of the stick and Texas never really made up for it nor did his actions have any real consequences since Texas got to keep kitten and paul was now someone elses problem.

Which brings me to talk about Texas. He never cared for paul at all. Neverrrrrrr. He abused him over and over, whored him out and treated him like garbage with barely a glance back or a conforting word and paul was just Aok with that. Even when he went too far I felt Texas was more afraid of Kitten being angry than any real concern for Paul. Which made no sense since why was Kyle soooooo special if they all met at the same time and the pets were identical twins cept for hair and eye color. Anyways, Texas was a horrible character and he never grew on me. I was hoping kitten and pup would free themselves at somepoint in the story, but they obviously developed Stockholm syndrome since kitten loves? The man who orders his "precious" brother to be used and abused by anyone who can pay, while pup just becomes a walking boner that needs to be hit or raped to feel useful and proud? It was just so... unbelievable that 2 guys who grew up on the streets didn't really put up any fight to be treated better or at least have limits to the abuse.

Which reminds me now of the last few chapters where everyone kept yelling paul he's not a wh0re. Um... being payed/accepting money for smex is the definition of being a whore... like what?! Why do other characters try to tell him he's not when even he knows and accepts what he is. He's a prostitute and Texas is his pimp! This is not just "liking smex". That was the most ridiculous argument in the whole story to try and give paul self worth, but we were way past that when paul gets fisted in front of an audience but his brother is angry cuz his master banged the guy fisting his bro... right.

Lastly, this was supposed to be a smutty book, but there's suprising little smut and most of it just fades to black and cuts to the next scene. Which is suprising since there's so much mention of it, but its more of telling vs showing.

I'm tempted to take away a star now, since writing the review made me realize I disliked quite a lot of the book. But I'll go on to read book 2 and see what I think about the series then.

The jumps forward and backward were pretty confusing without context. It also jumped way too much imo. I liked the first half, but as the story progressed, the scenes were more rushed. It felt a bit lackluster and I got a bit bored around chapter 20.

This one focused on the characters, not so much -if any- world building. But I enjoyed it, it was just what I needed at the moment. I loved the vulnerability the masters showed.

Awesome book, for the right person.
Before we begin it's unfortunate you can only read this in parts on Live Journal so I read this on my Kindle by creating my own ePub. Here it is - Texas Book 1:

Texas Book 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7uou91b3xlt...
(*Obviously I take no credit for the story, I just wanted to make it more accessible for readers. If the author or anyone doesn't like this just comment/message and I will take it down immediately.*)

***SPOILERS BELOW!!***

This is not a realistic BDSM relationship, it is abuse but the author manages to make all characters dimensional and not “all bad” or “all good.” The characters were well developed and the plot was pretty well thought out (although I think the story could have been aided by a bit more world building surrounding the various criminal organizations and Texas’s wife’s plot line).

Its probably obvious but I am a fan of dubious consent and non-con so remember that as you read my review, but to me the erotica sections were steamy and heady. I cried during reading. Seeing Puppy treated well was adorable and when Puppy still retained loyalty (after everything) and blamed himself it was so sad but made him finally growing to love Sal and call him master all the better.

I found it really interesting watching how differently Texas treated his Puppy vs. Kitten, loved the relationship between the two boys and their co-dependency.

Paul is an awesome character, so self sacrificing, and everyone around him falls in love with him. I was rooting for him and Jug but I was happy with him getting with Sal.

Kyle was pretty awesome too. Not often you come across a story that has a mute character. This I found was neat and I liked the way the author handled it.

Jug was just so sweet and I am so sad about what happened to him. Really liked Sal too but there was something so endearing about Jug *cries*

Somehow I really grew to like and understand Texas, given his shitty upbringing. In the second book I hope we are given more depth to his character and the past which created him.

Overall, really good story. Loved the characters and their development, loved the sexy times, loved the angsty themes and Paul and Jugs unyielding loyalty and Texas’s cold, ruthlessness and obsessive possessive love for his kitten.
