The historical information is very nicely done. But the book is dry, and MacCaffrey is sexist. There are better books on Elizabeth out there.

A good (reasonably) whistle-stop tour, covering every aspect of Elizabeth's reign. Well written, with some interesting (and some outdated) opinions that are well argued.
