With appealingly childlike artwork, Chinlun Lee shows a day in the life of an earnest little canine who will capture the hearts of the littlest dog lovers.
I am Paw. I love April. April loves me. She’s my owner. She’s a vet.
Paw is a busy dog. Every morning April gives him his ten-point checkup and then scoots him off to the office where she works as a vet. Paw has an important job there-singing reassuring songs to all the animals as they wait to be seen. But his best song he saves for April at the end of the day! A lighthearted tale that will inspire little readers to practice some loving ten-point care on their own lucky pets.
Chinlun Lee is the author-illustrator of the picture books The Very Kind Rich Lady and Her One Hundred Dogsand Good Dog, Paw! and the illustrator of Totally Wonderful Miss Plumberry by Michael Rosen. Chinlun Lee lives in Taiwan.
Paw is a dog and he gets a chance that not many dogs get: he gets to tell his own story. His owner's name is April and she is a veterinarian. Paw gets to spend the day with her while she treats different animals for various aliments. Every morning before they leave and every evening before bed, Paw gets a 10 point check that includes eyes, ears, nose, breath, teeth, paws, coat, tummy, tail and whole self. Paws always gets a "good dog, Paw!"
The message in Good Dog, Paw! is clear... dogs need much more than food, shelter, and walks to be healthy, they need love, too. Paw's owner is a veterinarian so he gets the 10-point check-up everyday... and in doing so, helps kids understand all there really is to owning a pet.
"Good Dog, Paw" is the charmingly illustrated story about Paw, who is a small friendly dog who belongs to April, a vet. Paw likes to sing, and he narrates his life with April and the animals at her clinic. The text is very slightly awkward in places in a translated sort of way, but still fun to read. This is a good book for a young dog lover.
Super sweet story about a dog named Paw! I especially love the end when they show him in bed with April his owner with the pet bed that was for Paw left empty. It reminds me of my cute puppy at home and makes me want to bring her to work with me!
A great book for so many children who want to be veterinarians or work with animals. A day in the life of a vet and her dog. Also a wonderful book for children who may want a pet in the future with advice for taking care of them!
