William Voltz was the pen name of German science fiction author Wilhelm Karl Voltz.
He was a member of the 'Perry Rhodan' writing team since 1962 and served as a longtime head writer for the series. He is considered a major - and lasting - influence on the character of the franchise.
Other pseudonyms include Detlef Kaufmann und Ralph Steven.
Finally William Voltz enters the crew of Perry Rhodan writers. By far the the most talented.
For his debut they only allowed him to write a filler. But one can see with the first sentences that he will be able to write a good one. A young Terran telepath is picked up on an alien planet where he had some task to do. He is accompanied by an inhabitant of this planet. On their way back to Earth some strange things happen. The Horror (das Grauen) as entered the ship. One after the other gets paralysed. We the readers know at some point that Goldstein has achieved some additional mutant powers and his idea to make himself master of the Solar Empire. Nothing less. But there seems to be some nagging doubt in his mind.
This is the first time in a very long time that I actually enjoyed reading a book in the Rhodan series. There is real suspense. There is even a nice twist at the end. (I have read it before but this was fifty years ago).
