Men Are Not the Problem

Rate this book
Selene opens the door to her former boyfriend and her heart melts. It was only two months prior that Michael dumped her, leaving her in Miami to return to his hometown of Sarasota, presumably to make something more of himself. It had been painful for her to let go, but at the end it was for the best. He had been a selfish and inconsiderate lover, escorting her around his white world as if she was his black Haitian Barbie. Selene who had taken charge of her life and overcame emotional and physical abuse, as well as the bias opinions of others regarding immigrants since coming to the US, is somehow still in love with this spoiled, bad boy. She packs her bags and leaves with him, telling herself that love is worth the risk. However when an unexpected pregnancy and job loss turns her love sick world upside down, It is then that Michael’s true callous and cold heart is revealed. Struggling with the demons of her past and now the misfortunes of her present Selene realizes Men are not the problem. Men are not the problem knows no boundaries as this uplifting tale drives you from tear jerking moments to candid real life hilarity. Painfully blunt and remarkably inspiring Men are not the problem will leave you knowing what real love is and should be.

Heartbreak Can Be a Blessing in Disguise....

Self- love is having confidence in oneself, but sometimes it can be hard to find things we love about ourselves. "Men Are Not the Problem" tells the story of Serene who has had her share of "love" gone wrong, because she never really knew the true meaning of love. She sets out on a personal journey to find herself, but will she find out...men are not the problem? This is a good book for anyone that needs a reminder that sometimes before placing the blame on someone else, the truth resides in us.

Luna Charles' "Men Are Not the Problem" is not an easy read. The constant flashbacks in the book had my head spinning. I couldn't tell if i was reading past or present events, so that left me going back a few pages to make sure I was still on track. There were some good "aha moments" for Serene, and for that reason it made me want to finish the book to see what the ending would be.

This unique story depicts the life of a young woman Selenae, that has been though so much in her young years. She never really knew what the true meaning of love was all about. As a teenager she asked her mother why don't you love me the way you love my brothers' then being told by her very own mother that she wasn't worth the very air she breaths.

That was a hard blow to swallow. In her quest to find happiness she fell for the rude, bad boy Michael he wasn't the best thing she needed in her life, but she felt she needed him. In her quest she knew that placing the blame on others was much easier than accepting that sometimes she allowed people into her world that caused her pain, but Selene knew that she couldn't keep going down this road.

And not owing up to her own faults. See what happens to make her change and start accepting that Men Are Not The Problem.

I feel this book will make you take a look at your own life and have you do some self examination yourself. This book would make a great gift for that special someone that is struggling with emotional issues and will enlighten them on how they can take charge of their own life.

In reading Luna Charles' book "Love, Laugh and Live with Passion, Secrets to a greater life" and LOVING it by the way. I decided to give this a shot. It could be a little bit hard to read for some who have been in relationships like this in a way (me included) but overall it is a very gratifying experience to read it from another perspective.

Female lead character in this book is a strong woman and I think a lot of her characteristics as a person is something that some women can relate to. This is a book that can show you the dangers of being in a relationship like this, but also a book that can give you strength in making something different of your life despite what you've gone through.

I fully recommend it, and also the book I mentioned above. Both are very amazing reads.
