This book has been the topic of many arguments at our home, and they usually went like this:
Mother: 'Please pick another book, we've read this four times already. It must be boring by now. Pick another.'
Me, my brother and sister: 'NOOOOO! Read this! We want to hear about Stach!'
We usually won, of course, because my mum was grateful she'd found a book all three of us liked and we were still eager to hear about dragons, moving churches, screeching birds and a brave young boy who wanted to be king.
It's a brilliant work of Children's literature, with a good plot, morals and lovely characters.
You follow Stach on his journey across the Kingdom in order to complete seven assignments, one in every part. Only if he completes them all, will he be crowned the new King. You will meet all his new friends, the mayors, the wifes, the commoners, as well as his enemies and the sly ministers who crave power of their own. Join Stach as he completes assignment after assignment, finds his future Queen and hold your breath when he finally makes that ultimate leap of faith. And find out whether it's been worth it, in the end.
A story that will make even the reluctant boy/girl read and can capture the imagination of a wide audience. A story to treasure.
