Many individuals suffer daily from the symptoms of eating disorders. For many, however, their eating is not the only area of their life that is out-of-control. In this book, Dr. Dukarm, a pediatrician and eating disorders specialist, focuses on the overlap between eating disorders and ADD and points out how diagnosing and treating both of these disorders can fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle that hold the key to recovery.
overall, i found this book a solid introduction to the relationship between eating disorders and add. although i'd already encountered many of the ideas presented, in other books about add and eating disorders (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy strategies/techniques), it was a great refresher to have the two issues discussed in a single book.
additionally, i felt that the writing style achieved an effective balance between technical/medical terminology and layman's terms--the content isn't dumbed-down, but it's also not so elevated that most readers won't understand it.
i hope that medical practitioners in the fields of eating disorders and add will continue and expand the work they've begun. too many people are struggling with both of these issues without even knowing the source of the problems.
