He has appeared on a number of national television and radio shows to speak about his books. Pardoe has been a featured speaker at the US National Archives, the United States Navy Museum, and the New York Military Affairs Symposium. He was awarded the State History Award in 2011 by the Historical Society of Michigan and is a silver medal winner from the Military Writers Society of America in 2010. In 2013 he was awarded the Harritt Quimby Award as part of the induction ceremony at the Michigan Aviation Hall of Fame. Mr. Pardoe is also a member of the League of WWI Aviation Historians.

This is a book about an unsung hero, Frederick Zinn of Galesburg, MI. He was a First World War veteran of the U.S. Army Air Service (as well as former French Foreign Legionnaire and member of the French Aéronautique Militaire) and the efforts he made to find and identify missing American airmen from both World Wars. The book offers some interesting stories about several of these airmen, mainly from the First World War.
I've been fascinated with First World War aviation since I was 12. So, this particular book fit the bill for me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I like how Mr. Pardoe inter-weaved the stories of each of the individual pilots in the story. It gave the reader a greater understanding of the dedication of Frederick Zinn and the hard work he undertook. Plus it gave the reader a feeling for the hardships that the early pilots endured. Mr. Pardoe has done a great job illustrating the life of Frederick Zinn. This is a great read for those who enjoy military history or anyone who has any interest in aviation.

Incredible story spanning two world wars. This is no just about missing aviators but how our military began to search for such men. "I will leave no airman behind..." has new meaning because of this book.

Local history is interesting with many familiar names. My father would have liked this book.
