Possession and multiple personality [dissociative identity disorder] have up to now been seen as extraordinary aberrations of the human mind — the frightening experiences of a few unfortunate victims.
Multiple Man throws new light on these phenomena, revealing that possession may be much more common than has been believed, and that multiple personality may simply be an unusual form of multiple consciousness we all experience.
- Is multiple personality a problem or a solution? - Do we all create personalities to carry out the various tasks of life? - Is each of us really one individual being or a multitude of selves? - Can one person influence another at a distance? - Can the spirit of a deceased person be present within the living? - Can family ties take the form of possession after death?
These are questions raised by Adam Crabtree's Multiple Man.
From the 1980s, this is a book definitely of its time and place-I wonder if it was written as a response to Michelle Remembers? Is this a book that helped what eventually became false memory syndrome? 3 stars isn’t for quality or even my level of enjoyment, but more of how important I think it is as a historical document.
