Charlie Cypher was neither a crime-fighter or a sleuth sniffer. But when murder erupts in her small beach town, she takes up the metaphorical gigantic magnifying glass and prepares to snoop. Matters are complicated by her attraction to an unexpected yard guest, her wacky friends, and the various other semi-deranged inhabitants of Jetty Bay.
This book is a good beach read, a good in bed read, a good all round read. Try it now!
But, full disclosure, it is a romance novel complete with steamy sex scenes. Hence, the good in bed part. Don't let the cover fool you into thinking it's staid.
Michele Gibney started writing novels in 2009 and now finds it hard to stop. She is pretty good at dialogue composition but not so good at book cover design. Currently, Michele lives in the Bay Area and loves it. She has cats with ridiculous names and enough books to crush her in an earthquake. Smartly, she does not stand under them while the earth is moving.
I won this book through the goodreads first reads giveaway.
This book definitely has a good story line, but halfway through the novel and several non-subtle clues regarding the possible killer/killers I already knew who was to blame for the murder of such a believed individual of the town Jetty Bay. Also, this is definitely not a book that I would let a teen/young adult read to some graphic sexual content. All in all, I liked the book and would recommend it to all of my adult friends.
I never read a "romance novel" before Book 'Em by Michele Gibney. It's funny, fast-paced, an easy fun read. Recommended for young-at-heart women (or men who read romance novels) in search of a lighthearted romp.. I mean, story... Er you know.
I really enjoyed this romance/murder-mystery, which takes place in a small town on the Oregon coast. I've spent a little time there and the author completely evokes the things I love about the Pacific Northwest beach towns: the quirky little communities, the surround-sound beauty of the scenery, and of course the weird, wonderful little used bookstores.
I haven't read a lot of contemporary romances, but this book makes me think I should. I really enjoyed the steamy love affair between the lovable (and relatable) bookstore owner, Charlie, and the drifter she falls for. Great escapism, with a cast of supporting characters whose dialog occasionally made me laugh out loud. I'd recommend this for anyone looking to get lost for a few hours.
