Boone Daniels seems to have trouble finishing things. Along with the half dozen or so novels he's started, only to abandon mid-way through, his love life could be best described as a series of drive-bys.

Boone has spent the past week staying at a ski lodge in the tiny mountain town of Summit City. He's been using his time alone to write while waiting for his boyfriend to join him for their anniversary.

What happens to Boone when he winds up dumped on the eve of his one-year anniversary and ends up at a bar having one too many cocktails? Wade Walker.

Welcome to what happens to Heather when she doesn't read a blurb fully before starting a book, version 2.0! When I saw the title to this book, I thought, "Wow, I love multicultural books! Clearly this is about an Asian guy skiing! His last name must be Ho. Sounds great!" Color me confused when no Asian guy made an appearance in this book...

description

I expected to be crazy about this book because I looove a funny book. However, though I kind of chuckled along, I didn't find this to be laugh out loud funny like I had expected. It was pleasantly entertaining and a very nice afternoon read.

What I liked best about this book was Boone's unapologetic slutty-ness. He was confident with his sexuality and owned it. Werk, Boone, werk! I thought that he was adorable. I kind of don't get the appeal of Wade though. Aside from his , I don't know what Boone loved about him. He was kind of a dick in the beginning. I also thought that the romance moved way too quickly for my liking. It went from a fling to serious so quickly that I thought I had missed some pages. And I hate that the ending finished so abruptly. Grrr!

This was my first Ethan Day and I will certainly be reading more of him in the future. I am mildly motivated to pick up the next in this series so I can see what happens with my adorable Boone!

This is a cute and funny male-male romance that is also very smutty. It's like a triple scoop of ice cream for those of you who might be into that kind of thing. Not that I would eat that much ice cream at once...

Technically that's one big scoop.

The book is really short, so there is some insta-love, but that's ok because the chemistry between the two guys was hot. Boone is our main character. He was just dumped and is looking for some rebound sex and Wade is happy to provide. He's a giver.

um... okay. I'm not going to kink-shame, but wow.

I can't tell you too much about the book because it's too short and I'll spoil it. But, there is a small town with fun, wacky characters, a lot of snow, and hot man-sex.

The only problem is that the book kind of ends in the middle of the story. The next one better be free too, K.U., or Jilly's gonna get angry. Don't be all hooking me in with your funny hot guys and then making me pay to get more action. This ain't cyber porn!.... Although it is porny... and I am reading electronically. Huh. Okay, maybe it is cyber porn. I accept myself for being a porny freak.

So, how does she pay her bill? Does he offer her a job at his plumbing company to be the scrappy new plumbing apprentice? I hear that plumbers make good money. That would be a good opportunity for her.

Ah, well, I was clearly in the minority on this one. The narrator and MC, Boone, bugged the bejesus out of me. He was sarcastic and snarky to a fault, and his motor mouth...dear lord...just shut the fuck up already, Boone, before I ducktape your mouth.

I didn't find Wade, the other MC, a particularly sympathetic character at the beginning, although he grew on me.

The comedy here was too campy for my tastes. I didn't find the book even remotely funny, and the interactions between the MCs felt tense and awkward; there was too much banter and not enough relationship development.

Also, my pet peeve is a book without an ending. I expect the book to wrap up in some way. Sequels are all well and good, but I shouldn't HAVE TO read the second book to have a sense of closure.

Ethan Day can certainly write. This just didn't work for me.

I started reading this book just to kill a little bit of time today, but once I started it I did not stop reading it until I was finished. Boone and Wade were awesome together. I loved how Boone talked fast and couldn't shut up when he was anxious and he always said exactly what was on his mind. And Wade, *sigh*, what can I say about Wade? He's absolutely perfect! An athletic, tall, muscular, romantic "wall-man"...and completely smitten with Boone.

This was a cute, funny story with lots of "LOL" scenes and many "aww, how sweet" moments. There were also some really HOT smexy scenes, too. But I don't think they over-powered the story.

It also has a bit of cliff hanger at the end. So be prepared to have Life in Fusion at the ready when you're finished. I plan to read it ASAP!!!!

A new author to me and a new series : I’m in !! And what a good start with this novella.

Boone Daniels is cute, has a big mouth and uses it a lot, like in a mile in a minute, has strong bonds with his unconventional family and his long-time BFF. What he doesn’t have anymore is a boyfriend and to forget about that while on vacation in Colorado, why not going for a drink (or more) and get hit by a bulky and sexy guy, namely Wade Walker.

I enjoyed Boone Daniels and Wade Walker’s debuts a lot : I had a great laugh, it’s full of chemistry and hotness. And I went straight to the second book, Life in Fusion, to keep following these 2 guys !!!

This had me laughing. I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Expecting a romantic getaway with his boyfriend Boone instead gets dumped over the phone and left to holiday alone in picturesque Summit City, a skier's haven. He meets the town's golden boy Wade and they start a blazing holiday romance, will it lead to something more? Stay tuned! I'm heading off right now to find out. :D

Recommended if you like a snarky, hilarious narrator and lots and lots of smoking hot sex. This is worth it for just chapter one's morning after walk of shame. Priceless.

Boone Daniels thinks he is going to meet his BF at Summit City to celebrate their one-year anniversary in the ski resort where they met. Instead, his BF dumps him over the phone. The (now ex) BF has paid for the cabin and ski lessons for the week for Boone's enjoyment. Boone drowns his sorrows in a town bar and winds up in bed with hunky Wade Walker. Wade is the golden boy of Summit City and works as a ski instructor. Sno Ho is their story of getting to know each other over the holidays.

I didn't like this book. Yes, it was funny at times. Yes, Wade is hunky and I liked him. But Boone was a chick-with-a-dick and f*cking irritating beyond belief. One of the things I enjoy about the M/M genre is not having to deal with the power struggle and one-upmanship that often occurs in M/F relationships. Well, no such reprieve here. I loathed Boone's obsessive need to either shut Wade down, make a joke of him, or leave him hanging. Equally infuriating for me was

Bottom line: an irritating chick-with-a-dick story.

Re-Read on 12/31/13: I wanted to give this one another try because I was hoping last time was a fluke. So many of my GR friends like this one! Sadly, it was still a bust for me. I couldn't stand Boone. Sawwwry. :(

**Update**
I just finished my re-read of Sno Ho getting myself reacquainted with Boone and Wade. Boone has always been my all time favorite character, I guess you could call him my book boyfriend. I loved him the first time we met and after my re-read that hasn't changed. He's somehow survived the years and many, many books later. I can't wait to read on and I especially can't wait to read the new addition to this series Life in Union. (Damn GR the insert book thing won't work!)

Original Review
Boone... what an adorable, sweet, funny, crazy, snarky character. I loved him. He did have me almost rolling on the floor with laughter. What came out of that boy’s mouth, I want to say when he wasn’t thinking, but I can’t that boy never stopped thinking, he had me shaking my head with a big smile on my face, but at the same time wishing I knew someone like him.

Wade...so opposite from Boone, maybe that’s why they worked so well together. Him I just wanted to hug, like Deeze said “a big teddy bear” that I wanted to just cuddle up too. He turned out so different from the character he could have been. He got everything he wanted, it seemed with no effort just a smile and by being the towns golden boy a big, arrogant, egotistical guy, the stereotypical jock, but he wasn’t! He was this gorgeous, romantic, quiet...well maybe not quiet we don’t really know because who could get a word in edge wise with non-stop talking Boone around! LOL

What a great story that doesn’t end here. Thank goodness there is a second book about these two, the HFN ending in this book just screams for an HEA!

Now on to the second one!!!!

i laugh so hard it hurts tehehehe

I loved this one. It was so hilarious! At first there's not much funny to it but then it turns into just nonstop funniness. I loved it ^_^

Ahh, Boone such a funny guy in that dry, sarcastic always-have-to-make-a-joke type of way. And even though he was sent to the mountains by his boyfriend and then dumped he still found some situations funny. Of course, that was only after a night of drunken sex with a stranger but eh, it was bound to happen, right? Lol. Wade was so cute and always tried to get his way with Boone. He loved the fact that Boone didn't know Wade was kinda famous and make a big deal about it or treat him differently for it. Omg, and I absolutely love that town! Curley and the Quad and all those people that were just gossiping about Boone and Wade nonstop was just hysterical to me, I couldn't help but laugh whenever Boone would get creeped out when he felt eyes following his every move and when he'd make a run for it if he felt like he was about to be cornered by someone. Hehehehe

This was a cute and fun read with just a hint of romanticism in it even with how it ended. I'm off to read the sequel now!

Definitely recommended! :D

Super fun holiday read!

I know everyone raves about how FUNNY this book is. I guess it is kinda funny...but I think I really just enjoyed seeing two MC's playing off of each other with snark and banter. It was...smart. The dialogue was some class A stuff!

Boone is a kinda-writer who is sent to a mountain resort only to be dumped by his boyfriend.

He meets ski-instructor Wade, town hero, and new-owner-of-my-heart. *swoon* I love this guy.

It's total instalove...but in the most neurotic, zany, wackadoodle kinda way...because Boone is certifiably nutso, but he's lovable and cracks me up...think Jory A Matter of Time + Kevin Connor First You Fall + Caesar from Catch Me If You Can...but smarter. :)

And by the end, well, I enjoyed myself. But the end pissed me off...and forced me to read book 2...which I can't even explain how...but became one of my favorite books of the year (only 5 days into the year, but still...)

So check out Life in Fusion (book 2) as well!

Um, not sure about this. Parts of the book I really liked, but the humor falls flat for me. I think Day's trying to be 'wacky', and wacky leaves me cold. Also I wasn't completely comfortable with the beginning of the MC's romance. I never believe the whole 'I hate you so much I'm going to have sex with you just to show you what you're missing out on' scenario.

I did like Wade's sister: I'd share a martini with her any time. I liked the MCs individually. I'd like their ship if they could leave and live somewhere else, without all the townsfolk, and without the "quad" (who gave me freaky Wizard's First Rule flashbacks).

Undecided if I'd read #2 if that's going to be more of the same.

Amazing book! It's so romantic and funny!!!

I love both main characters!
Boone, the only narrator, with his incredible funny thoughts made this book so pleasant!
"I settled on my lowest of low rise jeans and a red plaid cowboy shirt with pearly white snap buttons. It was several years old, but hadn't been worn that much. I'd purchased it before my trip to the gay rodeo with a bunch of friends many moons ago. Many horses had been saved that weekend as many cowboys had been ridden."

Wade with his freaking healthy foods and majestic personality.

Perfect story, cute end and certainly a 5 stars short story I recommend to all!

Have fun with Boone and Wade!!!!

Consigliatissima.

This was a great surprise, I had it in my TBR pile for a while and was expecting a bit of fluff, a nice quick read.
It was a very nice quick read, however it wasn't regular fluff. IT WAS BLOODY HILARIOUS! I love Boone, at first I worried he might be a bit too camp
for my taste but no, he's just the funniest MC I've come across in my life. I laughed out loud on virtually every second page. It was amazing to find a book
with two awesome MC's, humor and witty remarks coming out of the wazoo AND sex so hot it sizzled. Wade is like the dream man, just perfection and Boone is
the guy you want as your best friend even though he'll get you both arrested for sure.

If you're just coming off something heavy and/or angsty but don't want to go down the complete sappy sugary fluff lane, pick this and the sequel up NOW!
I will bet my favorite LYDC bag on the fact that it'll brighten your day!

I really enjoyed the beginning of this, but as the story progressed everything devolved into insta-love and constant sex. There was quite a bit of snark, almost too much at times, which made it difficult to get to the feelings of the MC’s.

I may read the next books since the story is not over, but I’m not going to rush to do so.

My Rec? It’s short and snarky. If you’re OK with that, insta and lots ‘o sex and a cliffhanger, go for it!

This was a charming and funny book on many levels and I loved Boone! Unfortunately I didn't like Wade as much. I don't know what it was about him, I can't put my finger on it, I just couldn't warm up to him. Starting with the skiing lesson and everyone knowing about Boone's"situation" coming to Summit City, Wade just seemed kind of... Too happy about Boone's misery, for my tastes. I also didn't like the fact that Wade took advantage of someone who was too drunk too either consent or not, and don't tell me that Wade didn't realize this! If you're drunk enough to completely loose your memory, you're drunk enough for others to notice it. Boone deserved better!

This being said, I might very well check out the rest of this series.

This is a perfect pick me up read. Boone is a real guy with a real talent for saying what he's thinking. I loved everything that came out of his mouth be it cute funny or just plain corny.

Wade is a big teddy bear. I loved how he could wind Boone up then watch as Boone went off.

While I wasn't rolling on the floor with laughter, I was chuckling most of the way through.

For me this is a perfect feel good book. But for those wanting definite closure you will need to read book 2 as this ends rather suddenly.

Very cute, very funny and sweet with a side of smexy. Boone is hilarious, and Wade is no slouch either. Even when Wade is surprised by what Boone says, he is able to step right up with a funny comeback. They make a great couple both in bed and out. This moves quickly and leaves you hanging just a little, so I'm off to read book 2.

Before I start with why my opinion of this novella differs from the majority, I'll come clean and say that I do fully intend to buy the sequel.

Sno Ho drove me crazy. There's a kernel of a good story in there, but sometimes it was hard to see as it disappeared under an avalanche. What was that avalanche made of?

First and foremost, this story desperately needed an editor for punctuation and sentence construction. Hey, I'm not a grammar ho. I can definitely enjoy a good story poorly presented if the heart of it is there. But there are limits, and I guess I came up against them in Sno Ho. I consistently had to back up and re-read sentences that lacked a necessary comma to offset a phrase. And then later in the story, I consistently had to mentally remove commas that interrupted the flow and obscured the meaning of a sentence. Semi-colons were often missing or mis-used, and I found more than one mis-applied word that had me shaking my head. Does MLR Press edit their publications at all?

I understand that this was originally published as a novella for an anthology. I can just imagine the pressure that a popular author might be under as he attempts to achieve a deadline. That's what I kept telling myself as I read through stereotypes (the Quad, the trip to the mountaintop that was so special) and endured such crazy behavior from Boone that made very little sense. Why Wade pursued him is beyond my understanding.

What drives the opening scene is how Boone is alcohol-intolerant and doesn't remember having sex with Wade. But then anything concerning this scene is dropped. It's almost as if the first scene is disconnected from the rest of the story. Boone doesn't explain it as a reason for his skittishness around Wade afterward, and it's never "used" in a writerly sort of way in the rest of the story. Except for an encounter in a drug store that is short and actually rather interesting, but again separate from any consequences in the story.

Now, despite all this, there is something about the characters created that is somewhat appealing. I really did have to plow through a lot to come to that conclusion, and that's a huge testament to the author's characterization skill. There's just enough there for me to want to buy the sequel and read it next month. And for a writer, that's really the name of the game, isn't it? Selling books! I am really wondering what I'll think of Life in Fusion, the sequel.

This is one of the best light-hearted M/M romances I have read. Boone, the narrator, is sweet and funny and completely over the top in a very appealing way. Wade, the hometown boy he sleeps with and then falls for, is his perfect foil, and the small-town setting adds to the humor. There is enough emotion in here to give it the occasional poignant moment and give the story a little depth. The next book just moved to the top of my list.

3,5 stars, rounded 4. A nice, little story about an aspiring writer who gets dumped in the middle of a winter holiday in the mountain and falls for the ski instructor/sexy giant. The beginning was very funny and the banter and ramblings of the 1st person narrator (the writer) were very entertaining. Although rather short it was NOT insta-love - very much appreciated! It was a lighthearted little romance with a lot of humor.

OMyGosh, I haven’t laugh so hard in a long time! At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like either of these characters. But then I realized how ping-ping-ping-richotte-rabbit crazy Boone was, I just fell in love with him. And I think that’s when Wade fell for him as well. Now I really need to read the sequel!

Repeat readings still make me laugh like crazy!

Best line (out of many); Boone screaming "Harbinger of love-death!" I literally snorted out some soda.
