The Panzerkampfwagen IV has often been referred to as the workhorse of the German Army in World War II. This important weapon went through several upgrades and improvements during its lifetime and is the only German tank to have been produced continuously throughout the entire war.
In his previous title, Modelling the Early Panzerkampfwagen IV, Tom Cockle covered the early production Panzer IV. This book will cover the later versions of the tank, from those that were initially equipped with the 7.5cm KwK 40 L/43 to versions which were mounted with the L/48 gun.
Step-by-step photographs show how to model this tank across various scales and at various skill levels, making this book ideal for both beginners as well as advanced modellers interested in minuscule detail, scratch built extras and rare tank markings.
This book is for the extremely advance military modeler. The subtitle should read "How to turn a $55 model into a $250+ model." The theme is accuracy with only a little of actually how to do it. I still struggle with attaching metal parts without making a mess. "The Aber turret skirts are about 1mm too high and were trimmed down...." gives some insight to the accuracy of the authors modelling skills. Definitely inspiring. Both the authors are advisors to some of the DML kits I've attempted. I build models from the box and don't count how many bolts and screws there are. If you do, then this books is for you.
I have to say this is one of my favourite modelling books and is special in that I know the author Tom Cockle and one of my favourite model kit builders gives me lots of satisfaction in reading it and learning the skills as well. Five stars!!! recommended.
