Greg Stiles craves his neighbor, Sarah Templeton. He figures she should’ve been named Sarah Temptation. So far, he's been a good boy and kept his distance. When another man moves into their complex and starts sniffing around Sarah, Greg’s honorable intentions fly right out the window. Time to show Miss Templeton just how good he can be.
Sarah isn't ashamed of her virginal status, just tired of it. She's always wanted a husband, kids, and the white picket fence. Those dreams seem forever out of reach. So when her hunky neighbor asks her out on a date, she jumps at the chance. She’s watched him. Wanted him. Now she’ll have him. Problem is, how does she keep him?
“Rainey is an erotic storytelling virtuoso!” — Romantic Times Magazine
Anne Rainey creates steamy romance stories with just the right amount of heat. Her books frequent best seller and top pick review lists. Anne is an accomplished author of over thirty titles. Her books can be found in Target stores and other popular online retailers. Canada’s largest newspaper, The Toronto Star, recommends Anne’s books as an alternative read to Fifty Shades of Grey. Anne actively markets her work and sells an average of 133,000+ print and digital copies per year.
Anne grew up in a small town in central Ohio the only girl with three rowdy, older brothers. When she wasn’t playing tackle football with them she could be found tucked away in her mother’s book room getting lost in mysterious worlds created by authors such as Martha Grimes and Andrew M. Greeley. She’s had a variety of odd jobs including Chiropractic Assistant, Frame Stylist, Restaurant Hostess, and Nail Technician. Anne now lives with her fabulous husband, two gorgeous teenage daughters, two ornery dogs and three snooty cats.
So Greg's been "watching" (I say stalking) Sarah for 2 years or is it 2 months? Anyway, she's a 25yr old virgin who decides that this guy's the one she wants to give her virginity to in 24hrs of going out on a date with him. Then the next morning he professes his love for her as does she because he's jealous of the creepy neighbor who's also "watching" (I still say stalking) Sarah. The end!
I really wish we could give half ratings because this was most definitely a 0.5 rating.
I finally got to this after getting it as a freebie in 2013.
I am not rating it because, it is ok for what it is intended for. I like some substance to my smut lol If you are into gorgeous, naïve virgins who are 25 that give it up on the first date and a guy who is kind of a dom, Try it out.
I categorized this as an "Erotic Lit" book, but honestly I don't know if it ever got that far. At 43% there had been no sex, and I'm sure it was coming (pardon the pun), but it took ALL my patience to even get that far.
I'm not rating this because I didn't finish it, but at 43% my impression was "1 star." I believe this book was a self-pubbed book and it shows in the editing. "Dept" was used instead of "debt" there were words missing in sentences, and the overuse of names in the overly wooden dialogue was so bad it was nearly funny.
I've heard AMAZING things about Anne Rainey's work through publishers, but this novella lacked believable characters, realistic plot, and readable dialogue. I rarely DNF, but I stopped when the virgin heroine was bemoaning her limited knowledge of "The pleasures of the flesh."
This was an enjoyable read that had some pluses and minuses for me. The biggest minus is a grip I have about a lot of novellas which is that it was too short. Yes, I realize that if it was longer then it wouldn’t be a novella but a lot of times I feel that if the story was expanded, it could have been great. I enjoyed the story, virginal girl looking for her happily even after attracted to the bad boy next door. I thought that Sarah and Greg had some great chemistry and they burned up the pages almost every chance they got. Their emotional upheaval when trying to decide their future together was compelling, I just wanted more. And I guess that’s a good thing because it was a good introduction to the author and will compel me to pick up something new from her.
I love this author's writing, and I did like this story, but it felt rushed at the end, and I wish there was more. Blake's part in the story seemed weird because even though Sarah was attracted to him, she never went on a date with him, and other than flirting with her a couple of times, he really wasn't a part of the story, so maybe he wasn't necessary. I get that he was the catalyst to Greg asking Sarah out, but I think he needed to be more involved, and maybe some confrontation between he and Greg, and maybe Sarah should have dated them both. It could have added some more tension and maybe some mystery to the story like which one would she pick?!
This was an okay story. I liked Sarah and I liked Greg. Sarah's view on neighbor Blake had me a little puzzled and honestly I was a little wary that she would sleep with him too. Thankfully that didn't happen and no menage either (another fear of mine but Greg would NOT let that happen.. EVER)But the sex scenes weren't a turn on for me.. Frankly they were a turn off. I just didn't like how they were worded or how they played out (Just my opinion of course but Greg lost it when he was super sweet at the beginning of the conversation and then says "cunt"... that to me is one of the unsexiest words and it lost me.
Sarah has been living across the street from Greg for two years. When a new neighbor moves in and shows interest in Sarah, Greg finally asks her out.
The book was ok. I understand there will not be a lot of character development in a short story. But in that type of situation I like the sex to be scorching. Instead it was ok. I didn't like the fact that in the beginning the first part is from a friends' POV, it was confusing. And I still don't understand why Greg waited two years.
I will probably read more by this author, depending on the plot..
This story was good but nothing special to me. I really liked Sarah and Greg, but felt like the story didn't flow well. It felt rushed in the beginning and then ended abruptly for me. Blake's character was a confusing component as well. His purpose in initiating the meeting between Sarah and Greg was understandable, but then he kept popping up without really any purpose; it felt sorta stalker-ish but then nothing came of it. In general the story had potential but fell short.
The story itself seemed rushed. I didn't understand the purpose of the "banker" I mean I do but no more than he was mentioned what was the point. Don't get me wrong I love Anne Rainey, but this one was not her best. Some of the sex was pretty hot, and some not believable.
Instructing Sarah is a fictional story so realism is not required. The characters build up and interaction is strong. The sex is considerate and passionate while being steamy and hot. It was an enjoyable short story.
I had a hard time getting past the way the characters talked to each other. I think it was meant to be fun and flirty but all I could picture was a couple of teenagers playing grown up.
