John Lewis Hart, also known as Johnny Hart, was an American cartoonist noted as the creator of the comic strip B.C. and co-creator (with Brant Parker) of the strip The Wizard of Id. Hart was recognized with several awards, including five from the National Cartoonists Society, and the Swedish Adamson Award. In his later years, he sparked controversy by incorporating overtly Christian themes and messages into the strips.
Great mix of different types of gags and characters. I do like how, back in the day, you had your comic strips with golf jokes, your comic strips with fishing jokes...and B.C. where your fishing joke might turn into a golf joke or the other way around. B.C. strikes a peace accord with the clams, but it doesn't last.
Coming out in 1973 with strips from 1967, specifically between April 27th and October 25th, a span of 26 weeks, so half a year and the 126 strips included comprise about 81 % of the dailies for that period. Hart was in good form here, there are genuine laughs to be had.
B.C. Right On was just as entertaining as the other B.C. comics I've recently read. There's something a little classic about the comics that seem to reach into current events.
