How to rate a book that provides information on bettering your health. Should I rate it based on the quality of the writing, or the quality of the information provided?
I found the layout of this book lacking in terms of providing quick and easy references for me to look back at. I was also frustrated that the author provided partial information in one part of the chapter but didn't complete the information I needed to understand the entire picture until much later in the chapter. Why make it more difficult that it needs to be?
On the other hand, once I spent a couple of hours making my own quick reference guides, I was able to follow her suggestions for better health. Days into the diet, I'm starting to feel better and I have high hopes that I will continue to feel good.
I think most people will read this because they're looking for guidance on how to improve their health, and since the book seems to be helping in that area, I'll ignore the missing reference guides and give it 4 stars.
Very weak book, common simplified information, mix of herbalism, raw fuddism, using digestive enzymes and nutritional supplements.
Tried recommended - before reading this book - not helped. For health conditions that I know people usually went through recommended in the beginning of their health problem, without reading this book, this is a very basic commonly available information.
The style is awful: tiresome, repetitive, boring, full of fillers and references to the pages in the same book.
Anyway, health problems force us to go through all such books in the hope that something may help. Try it, maybe it will contain something new for you.
Learn more about the author: good example of her recommendations is http://www.care2.com/greenliving/13-w... and see critical comments for complete picture. If you find these tips useful, the book may be for you.
I have just started this for review on thriftymommastips and thriftymommasbrainfood. I am very interested in the author's genetic condition. I thought this might just be one of those prescriptive books about diet curing all, but this author has serious experience with the diet herself. It seems she was very ill and also suffered a horrid car crash that left her in pain. So this is intriguing.
I learned a lot of educational value here and I will keep this as a guide to healthy nutrition. I enjoy learning new info and as a result of this book we are all eating more grapes.
