AMAZING animal facts!!!!!!! And talks about all kinds of animals you wouldn't even think of as smart. I learned something on every page, and that's saying something for someone with a degree in zoology.

Smart Animals. Clever Creatures in the Animal Kingdom brings us a book filled with the most incredible and some of the smartest animals there are. As human beings we may have taken ourselves all around the globe, made countless discoveries and inventions, been into space BUT we are not the only clever creatures on earth. There are some animals so smart that their levels of intelligence have yet to be gauged. How do we know? We look at how they play, use tools, solve problems and other questions. There are answers, but there are also examples of intelligence that will blow your mind. Are you ready to discover just how smart some animals are?
Of the 23 animals featured some were not a surprise ~ dog, elephant, dolphin ~ it is widely known, and attested that these animals are intelligent. There were two I have never heard of ~ Portia Spider and Drongo Bird and a few I was surprised to find included ~ crow and squid among them. So, what makes these animals smart, why do they feature in this book? After introducing us to some of the science behind evolution vs intelligence we are introduced to the animals, with examples. I turned to the two I am unfamiliar with. The Portia Spider is a predator. On reaching the web of another spider it will pluck the strands to make any of 119 vibrations to lure the other spider out, thinking it has caught a fly, only to be eaten! The Drongo Bird of Southern Africa alerts meerkats to their own predator ~ the eagle. When they scurry for cover it will swoop down and steal their food! Be prepared to be awed by these Smart Animals.
