Bill Rancic is an entrepreneur, author, talk show host, and professional speaker. He was the first winner of Donald Trump's reality show The Apprentice . He is married to television personality Giuliana Rancic. They have one son and live in Chicago.
This book has great tips but it is geared toward kids. Some of the concepts may be beyond a twelve-year-old comprehension but still good information for them to have. Not much help for me as an adult that just started my business.
Rancic, one of the winners of Trump’s “The Apprentice,” shares his business tips with future entrepreneurs. Children who have watched the show will gravitate to the name. Inside the bright, catchy cover are pages of useful information, anecdotes not just from the author but from children, and even a list of child-friendly jobs, complete with advantages and disadvantages. What is great about this book is that it not only covers the jobs, but the possibility of needing startup funds, how to price and what to do with the money. Another really nice point is that while it does emphasize the pleasure of making a profit, it states several times that money is not the end-all and highlights the importance of charity and honesty. The book even includes a section on investment possibilities and terms, written in child-friendly (heck, adult-friendly) language.
The ideal book for a little kid that's curious about starting a business. Rancic's style of writing coupled with his own childhood stories on business and start-ups will encourage kids to start their own business. He provides enough information for kids to explore the world of business in the simplest way possible -- in their own neighborhood. He explains concepts such as debt, savings, start-up costs, and networking in a way that will not discourage a child to explore. Even as you read the book you will not feel lost as his technique is to include you, as the reader, in his story-telling. Although some business ideas might be outdated today, the experience and techniques in starting one are still somehow applicable.
This book is really good. It gives you ideas on how you can make money at a young age and not just by putting up a lemonade stand or having a garage sale. The book is by a guy that won the reality show the apprentice. He got some celebrities to write bits in his book which was pretty cool. It also gives you a kind of guide if you do end up trying to do one of the ideas there. It also has some non-fiction stories in it so that was kind of interesting.
A great little handbook for anyone interested in entrepreneurial ventures both young and old written by one of the Apprentice winners. Businesses for kids is such an interesting and valuable topic! Especially valuable are the glossary of business terms, ideas for beginning businesses, and the time management and contacts templates.
My 7 yo and I read together. She enjoyed it, particularly the kids' stories. I thought it was a good read and imparted some valuable wisdom on entrepreneurship for kids.
