Johns Hopkins Univ., Baltimore, MD. Practical guide offers a tool for assessing the readiness for change in clients and in therapists. Offers strategies, examples, and insights for enhancing precursors that are lacking and leveraging those that are present.
This review is for the 1st edition; it was more cost-effective. Hannah offers a wealth of insight and thoroughly breaks down and analyzes the primary precursors that increase a client’s ability and motivation for change. Some parts, about a third of the way in the book, could have been shorter when taking an academic look at the precursors for change. And, a small amount of it felt dated; however, I was reading basically the 1st edition of this model. A lot of helpful tips and insights throughout the work. It seems like it would be a good reference for simple checks of areas that may need more attention. Worth it!
