A great book regarding the reality of Japan following to Nakasone and Koizumi's neoliberal paths and what happened to the society after the industry-government led widespread of poverty with the reduction of social welfare and ‘flexible’ labor market. It’s pretty similar to the US. One of his central thesis, which is questioning the concept of often referred as 'Jiko Sekinin' (self-responsibility, self-reliance, individualism, etc…), which attribute all the blames to individual who are suffering. The author reveals self-destructive disease of such atomization of individuals. It’s a powerful message and I’m so glad that I read it. The book also contains people’s real life stories as well, which forces us not to dehumanize the related issues.
