"If you knew, then why did you stay with someone like that? When choosing partners, you must be more prudent." -- Junpei

"That's impossible, because...that's what falling in love is all about. It's like a car crash, or an avalanche. First you fall head down with love, then it feels like something fell from the sky on you. Either way, there's nothing you can do about it. It's almost impossible to have control of yourself." -- Ei

"When you reached the point of losing your reasoning, that's called falling in love. Actually, those who have lost their reasoning chase blindly without thinking about the risks. They run and run like confused wild pigs. That's why, most of the time, they end up getting hurt." -- Sagan

Sensitive and caring average guy Ei walks home from work one evening to find a man huddled in a ball outside his apartment; it’s Christmas and snowing. He ignores the man and goes to the store. When he returns, the man Junpei still hasn’t moved. Then he discovers Junpei isn’t alone; there’s a kitten stashed inside his jacket. Ei takes both of them in for the night. Eventually, Junpei gets better, and he ends up staying indefinitely and becomes a great friend to Ei. Both men have serious baggage, which is what makes their personalities three-dimensional, lending credence to problems that arise.
This yaoi is a dramatic romance, and it took time for the story to build momentum, but once it did, there were moments my heart felt like it sank, and I almost cried. I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know how things would end. You Can’t Call it Love is emotionally gripping and beautifully illustrated. It was refreshing, for a change, to read about a pair of honest men who overcame their mistakes. No abuse. No stupidity. And, no airhead uke. At one point, the story could’ve veered off in a whole other direction, but thankfully it didn’t. The author is a superb storyteller, and the artist did an excellent job.

Ah, sometimes I'm just in luck when it comes to picking manga. I honestly didn't expect too much from this - I ordered it on a recommendation, mostly - but I ended up absolutely loving it. A touching series about grown ups and their love affairs.
Ei (who is a wonderful protagonist, really) is having the worst Christmas Eve ever when he finds Junpei - he's just been left by his lover. When he comes across Junpei sitting in the snow, cradling a tiny cat, the two of them are close to freezing to death, so Ei picks them up and so both the cat - Yakinori - and Junpei end up living with Ei for the time being. Add to that another gay not-yet couple and you have a complicated foursome of chaotic feelings.

The manga works because of its characters and its pacing. Ei and Junpei each clearly don't expect to fall in love with each other, and you get to see them slowly fall in love. I just adore stories like this, where feelings get to grow with time. It was really beautifully done, and there are enough light and cute moments (especially involving Yakinori) to balance out the angst.

I can't wait to read the accompanying light novels.

Really nice, interesting story. The long romance appealed to me, even though I've been reading more one-shots lately, for the quick gratification.

The art is beautiful, the plot interesting and captivating, and the characters are likeable and relatable. They are also flawed, which makes them even more beautiful.

Also, Yakinori, the cat, is so cute you'll want to adopt her!

There is only one thing I didn't like:
