Blackraven’s Review:

Alpha Wolf by Rebecca Royce has everything a reader could want in a paranormal romance: a strong and caring hero that is absolutely to-die-for, a heroine with an inner strength and kindness that will make you want to protect her with your own life, some misguided wolves who are smarter than the average bear, a couple of bad guys who definitely get what they deserve in the end, and a lunatic father who is constantly attacking his children. How can you go wrong? Did I forget to mention the sexual tension between the hero and heroine that is guaranteed to make your e-reader smolder as the flames rise to a flaming fire. Ms. Royce did NOT disappoint with this tantalizing story of mystery and mayhem in the shifter world set in the wonderful and sexy New Orleans.

Michael Kane is a forced to be reckoned with on any given day, but when you harm his mate, watch out world because he’s coming after you with a vengeance and makes not apologies for it. The man gives me goosebumps in all the right places. He is sexy as sin with a kind heart to boot that makes you love him more and more as the story progresses. His gentleness with Scarlett is absolutely heartwarming as Ms. Royce allows us to see the three-dimensional side of Michael – the man, the protector, the leader.

Although Scarlett has been abused most of her life to the point of being broken, when she first meets Michael, as the story unfolds, we’re allowed to see her kind heart and quite inner strength that makes her so loveable that you just want to wrap her up in a blanket and protect her forever. She is the perfect mate for Michael in every way as she soothes his loneliness and helps with his tortured soul.

I simply couldn’t get enough of Alpha Wolf and am dying to read the first four books in the series. The family and pack dynamics is wonderful and only helps to bring the secondary characters to life. The story is will written and as stated before all of the characters are three-dimensional which only increases the depth of the story. There is non-stop adventure that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat with the turn of every page until the very end. Ms. Royce definitely knows how to leave you with a cliff hanger. I’m dying to know what happens in the next installment of the Westervelt Wolves. Please tell me that it won’t be too long before we get to read Angel Kane’s story in order to find out what happens next.

Alpha Wolf is a captivating story that will pique your curiosity with the turn of every page, have you sitting on the edge of your seat with each fight scene, have your body smoldering from the sexual tension that’s emanating between Michael and Scarlett, and open your heart to true love. It will at times make angry from all the injustices that Scarlett has suffered, weep as she overcomes her fear, and make you proud while putting a smile on your face as these two find each other and become one. Bravo Ms. Royce! You’ve hit a home run with Alpha Wolf. Not only would i recommend it to my friends, I’m going to have to check out the first four books in the series.

First let me say, I’ve enjoyed all of the Westervelt novels, but ALPHA WOLF stood out among the pack for me. And the reason for that, a werewolf named Michael. We’ve met him before in the Westervelt series, but woozers, he took center stage in this story and left me breathless.

He’s not only a strong, powerful werewolf, but he’s sweet and funny. I loved his interactions with his new mate Scarlett and his reactions to the wolf pack in New Orleans. While reading, I found myself smiling and laughing at his remarks and expressions. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a tough sexy beast too, and it was quite an experience to see him guiding the werewolves around him to act as werewolves should—a born leader that I swooned over.

Scarlett held her own in the story too. I connected with her immediately, felt her pain, and cheered with her while she came into her own and discovered happiness with Michael. There’s just something that tugs on the heart strings when you see a broken woman find her happily ever after. Sigh.

All in all, this story just worked. It’s emotional, the plot intrigued me the entire way through and I enjoyed every darn minute of it! I’ll be looking forward to next in the series and hope I don’t have to wait too long.

Short book, fast read but I had a hard time with the heroine who is so abused and so passive about the abuse. Also, this shifter world has witches and magic in addition to shifters. There is also a very messed up pack with infighting, murder, abuse and rape that the hero must straighten out while claiming his mate. Yet despite the violence and body count, somehow shifters are still supposed to be secret from humans. No doubt it didn't help that I came in at Book 5 with what is a dark storyline involving curses and a very nasty father who is menacing his grown sons. I don't know if I will read more of this series, but I recommend you start with the first book.

Michael Kane is searching for his sister, but instead finds his mate. Abused and mistreated her entire life, Scarlett doesn’t know any other way. Worse, the other members of her pack don’t know any better than what they’ve been taught their whole lives. After he learns his sister is not with Scarlett’s pack, he wants to leave and start his life at home with his skittish, though lovely mate. Instead, he teaches the New Orleans werewolves what it really means to be pack.

I’ve read other stories from the Westervelt series, and Ms. Royce once again has a fantastic story. Michael is one of my favorite werewolves, ever. He’s got a really great balance of the need to please and protect along with the badass side any good werewolf needs. Alpha Wolf is definitely a little heavy, but the serious parts are balanced well with humor from supporting characters. I can’t wait to pick up the next one.

Michael Kane is one of six Royal Westervelt Wolves on a mission to find his sister Angel in New Orleans. Michael is feeling the weight of his age and wondering if he'll ever find his mate. Then a scent wafts his way carrying to him ~mate. Tiny vision sweeps Michael head over heels in need to protect and care for his newly found mate. Scarlett Knoll is stunned to learn that Michael Kane wants her to be his mate forever because no one wants latent wolf as mate in her pack. Michael is furious about Scarlett's injuries and struggles to speak to him. The more Michael learns about this pack the more he's confused. Michael explains how a healthy pack functions to Scarlett and several other pack members. The New Orleans Pack knows about Kendrick Kane. Will Scarlett accept Michael as her mate? Will Scarlett ever have a wolf? What will happen to The New Orleans Pack? What plans does Kendrick Kane have in store now?

This story keeps moving along and building intensity. I really enjoyed seeing the differences between Westervelt and New Orleans Packs. I understood Michael's choices better now and agree with them as well. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

If I could have given this 10 stars I would have. I'm never disappointed by this author's stories. I adore this series. If I had to complain about anything its that they are shorter stories and I'd love it if they were longer...

This pack is one of my all time favorites. This is a beautifully created pack world of Westervelt. All the best alpha males who love and worship their mates. Villains who make you cringe. Females who accept their roles in the pack and embrace their powers.

This story was soooo good. I've looked forward to reading Michael's story from the very first book when he stepped back and let Tristan take over the pack. I knew he had an important role to play. He's just yummy. And the way the new "members" of the pack followed him... it was truly heart warming. This brought even more depth to an already satisfying storyline I have come to love. Clearly there is so much more to come. You can just feel it! Hmmm, I'm thinking Gabriel is next.... how long do we have to wait!?

The Westervelt Wolves series is great, and Michael's story is freaking fabulous! I've loved him since the first book, and now I love him even more. His mate, Scarlett, has always been abused, but Michael's support changes every single aspect of her life, not to mention the other members of her disfunctional pack. I read this book in one sitting, because I just couldn't put it down. Rebecca Royce does a terrific job of drawing me in and making me anxious for the next story to come out. When can I read more about Gabriel???

Alpha Wolf is the continuing saga of the Westervelt Wolf Pack. Michael Kane has been sent to New Orleans to find his sister. He misses her, however, he does find his mate. Scarlett Knoll is a damaged latent wolf. She doesn't have the ability to shift and has been abused; verbally, emotionally, and sexually, by her pack her entire life for being a lesser wolf. She is timid and scared. She feels that she's a coward, but in reality, she's a true survivor. Michael realizes quickly that he will have to be careful with his new mate. He also realizes that her Pack must be dealt with. They have never been taught how a pack should function properly and that needs to change for the humans and their wolves.

This is another entertaining book in this series. While the war is still on-going between the Westervelt Pack and their former Alpha, it was nice to take a bit of a break. This book was quite a departure from the others but still fits in the overall story nicely. Michael is such a strong, honorable man and Scarlett is precious. It was lovely to see how love and kindness changed her.

Each book of this series is individually good on its own and as part of the set. The characters are all wonderful and the action is entertaining. However, my favorite part in each book is the relationship between the human and their wolf. This never fails to amuse me. Their conversations are priceless and each so unique. I can't wait to see how this trend continues.

To be fair to this book, my low rating is not its fault. I haven’t read any other books in the series, so I was missing some context. And, I’m pretty picky about erotica, and not a fan of instalove. I picked this up hoping for some angst and healing a traumatized heroine, but that’s not really the focus, the hero’s journey is. One complaint, though maybe my ebook copy was damaged - there are lines of dialogue from multiple characters with no spacing between them. Like, a back and forth between Scarlett and Michael all in a single paragraph, with no space to differentiate between the speakers. It was a bit confusing at time, especially since the dialogue didn’t have “he/she said” before or after the lines - I kept having to reread paragraphs to figure out who said what.

Michael Kane is in New Orleans, looking for his long-lost sister. The person he meets, Scarlett Knoll, turns out to be his mate, the one he’s been waiting for his entire life. She’s also been severely beaten, instantly pulling up Michael’s protective instincts.
This is the fifth book in this series. I did enjoy the book. However, for some reason, I didn’t really care much for Scarlett. She’s probably my least favorite heroine. Michael, however, was one of my favorites of the series. I really loved seeing how he felt about what had happened in previous books. Overall enjoyable book. I highly recommend.

This book pulled me from the first pages. Michael one of the greatest Alpha wolves the Westervelt pack has. He was sent to New Orleans to find his sister but end up with someone greater his mate.
Tired and beaten up Scarlett only had to bring Michael to her alpha. But sometimes things don't go as planned. Fate steps in and things get tremendously better. She has a chance now at a better future.
I loved reading this book. Michael is just the kind of hero I like to read about. Strong, loving, protective and understanding. This is an awesome addition to the series.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

I received a free book and voluntarily chose to review it. This book continues the Westervelt series and is worthy of the series. I have a strong woman who doesn’t know that she is strong. I also have an alpha wolf who doesn’t want to be alpha. The author has given the story magic, romance, and suspense to keep me reading until the end. Loved the book.

I love these books. I am sad because the tablet I had these on stopped working and now it has been hard to find them again. This is the book I started with and all books were in this one. I was in Book 4 chapter 3 when my tablet messed up. I love them all just upset about the problems I have with getting them back.

The way Michael meets Scarlet is awful. Her abuse from the alpha pretender is heartbreaking. Michael's courage to stand up for those who are unable to be strong on their own shows the very best of honourable actions.

Alpha Wolf (The Westervelt Wolves Book 5) Kindle Edition
by Rebecca Royce
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow! I know I'm repeating myself I'm in love with the Kane Brothers!.
Every book in this series is AWESOME! Rebecca Royce I love you, you're fantastic and I'm a Fan for Life. I was so excited to read this book so when It came I couldn't wait to read it. I love the characters in this book and once again the Rebecca Royce didn't disappoint me. The storyline is strong, engaging and Fantastic. Her characters are amazing, thoughtful, powerful, exhilarating and lovable. The Dialogue is fascinating, humorous and realistic and If you haven't read this series you are missing a best seller. Book 5 is a great addition to this series it's book 5 of The Westervelt Wolves series but each book can be read as a standalone, as I have said before I love it and I'm excited about the next book, just thinking about it makes me happy.
Well, just let me say how delighted I am! I have been reading them, without stop because I can't put them down! Each story is very different in local and characters and the tales are told with great artistry. in a short period, I have become a true fan of Rebecca Royce. I think she is brilliant - her mastery of the the form is perfect, her characters are believable and unique, her writing is quite beautiful and her stories are tense and thrilling. If one could call a book: "elegant" then that is the word I would like to offer.
The variety of the stories fascinate me, as I really love all of The Westervelt Wolves they are amazing. I have been delighted by each, individually. She has captured my attention on page one and held me in her grasp throughout this book. These stories are all written around the wolves, so that is another interesting fact to me. Rebecca Royce hasn't been affected by the modern trends her heroes are awesome, the bad characters are really bad, the women are brave and beautiful, and, so far, everyone gets their just desserts! I love it. The descriptions of the scenes is awesome, the value of honesty and friendship and fair dealing are values that we are sometimes missing these days and I'm happy to report that's not the case here, they are offered here in these wonderful books.

Excellent! If you love on paranormal romance then this is definitely a great choice for your TBR list or your wish list. I'm excited I must read the next book in this series. I know everyone don't enjoy reading paranormal romance, if this isn't a genre you read I understand but if you love romance, suspense and being on the edge of your seat this is definitely a book you will want to read. I received a copy of this book for my thoughts in a honest review and I would like to let you know I enjoy sharing my thoughts with other readers. Without reservations I highly recommend this book and the series.
If you believe in the world of shifters and paranormal romance then, the possibilities are endless and always fascinating.

Michael Kane arrives in New Orleans in search of his missing sister. Although he does not find her, he does, in fact, find his mate. She is a shifter, a member of the pack of wolf shifters who, until recently, hid his sister from Michael's father Kendrick Kane. But Scarlett Knoll is not like any other wolf-shifter Michael has ever met and Michael realizes quickly that it won't be a fast courtship to win the heart of the lady he has waited over two hundred years to meet.

Latent, which means that her wolf never presented, Scarlett has been beaten and abused by a wolf pack that has been led for years by dysfunctional Alphas bent on power instead of protection. When she meets Michael, she instinctually knows he's her mate. However, she expects him to abandon her for someone else who is capable of shifting.

Left with no other choice, Michael will have to teach the wolves in the New Orleans pack how real Alpha shifters behave, while showing his mate he is a man of his word.

Zoe’s Review:

After reading Alpha Wolf, I can only think “Wow! Where was I when this series began?” What an absolutely outstanding story. I was captivated from the very first page and the fascination didn’t let up until the very end. Who am I kidding…my fascination didn’t end at the end. It merely left me wanting to know what would happen next as well as what came before. Alpha Wolf is an absolutely compelling read.

Alpha Wolf – book 5 in the Westervelt Wolves series – is intense, emotionally gripping, and a sheer joy to read from beginning to end. I laughed along with the characters; I even shed a tear or two. And through every twist and turn I was right there with them, cheering them on.

Alpha Wolf is what a paranormal romance story should be! It has all the passion, drama, action and suspense you can want. Rebecca Royce did an exceptional job with characterization. Her characters jump off the page when you first meet them. I felt a part of this story from the very first paragraph. I was in that bar with Michael when he met Scarlett, and I didn’t feel like I left the story even once as it progressed. To be able to use so few words to convey so much meaning is such a remarkable talent.

Rebecca Royce has done an amazing job with Alpha Wolf! If you haven’t started this series, I highly recommend it. As you can see, I started with book 5, but I wasn’t confused in the least. I didn’t feel left out at all, but it did whet my appetite for the other stories – those already completed and the ones to come. If you can’t decide where to start – I’d recommended the beginning, but – just grab one. I can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed in the least.

Michael has just learned his sister has been hidden by a spell. Now he is looking for her. It has brought him to New Orleans. He is sitting in a bar when he smells her. His mate. He sees Scarlett and knows something is wrong. She has been beaten so badly that she can barely walk or talk. Who would beat his mate? He just wants to kill someone, whoever touched her. Michael learns that the alpha of this pack has died with no one to fill in for him. 2 people have been fighting for alpha. 2 supposed leaders and their followers have been beating, abusing and raping their women. None of them know how to be pack. As Michael learns the extent of the New Orleans problems, he also hears that his father is also attaching his pack at home. He has to get home and help. He has to pack up his mate and leave. Just as the New Orleans pack is starting to come together, how can he leave them? And where did his sister go? Who is going to die for abusing his mate and ruining the pack? Will Michael get out of the south just to get into a life or death struggle back home?

Alpha Wolf was a book that truly shows why we all love werewolf books. Michael has to teach other wolves how to be wolves. After years and years of abuse, neglect and corruption, the pack is beyond a mess. His mate, who is believed to be latent, has been so abused, has to be nurtured back. Michael is the perfect man. He is so gentle and patient. He is also deadly against anyone that comes near Scarlet. My only complaint is I would have loved it to have been a longer story. I would have loved to see more of Michael and the New Orleans pack and I would have liked more time with him and Scarlet. Very good read...would love to read more of the series.

Omg I can't believe that Ms. Rebecca's fifth book actually out beat the last four books. Don't get me wrong, this whole series is magnificent. When I say the whole series know that the each book can be a standalone, of the Westervelt Wolves it's Phenomenal. But to know which wolf is good or bad and what happen to them all start with Book 1, Her Wolf. Know that this lady knows how to write, she has you on edge in the whole book and it is so good, you have Adventure, Danger, Action Pack, Suspense, Fear, Abuse, Love, Protection, I'm sure I missed some too.
Recommend this? Yes most definitely.
Michael Kane was sent by Tristan his Alpha to New Orleans to find their baby sister. While waiting to question one of the wolves in charge, he find a small timid women who was beat up so bad she couldn't talk right. This infuriated Michael so bad he was ready to kill everyone that had touched her. No one will touch a hair on her head ever again.
Scarlett Knoll is latent, she never had a wolf consequently she was abuse, beat up, she was physically and mentally raped by the whole pack, being told countless times she should have been drowned when born she was worthless. With this kind of treatment she believed them which basically broke her.
The question still remains what happen to Angel, the Kane Brother's Sister? I was gifted this book for an honest and truthful review.
