This survey analyzes the history and philosophy of Buddhism. It aims to give an understanding of the Buddhist interpretation of man's earthly life and spiritual destiny. Topics covered early Buddhism; the split into two schools of Buddhism; and the expansion of the religion.
Found it on my parents' bookshelf. It's informative but a real slog. It reads like a court opinion, with the author moving from one quote from Buddhist literature to another. This breaks up the flow of information and crams different styles into the same sentence. Still a good overview, though you can probably find one elsewhere, and I would recommend trying to take that route
Very detailed work. Tough read throughout most of the book as it contained many intricate explanations of specific Buddhist works. I would not consider this book an overview of Buddhism as you might think from the title.
