“In [Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting] by [George Morikawa], the story centers around… A high school student named Makunochi Ippo that suffers from bullying becoming a pro boxer and learning what it means to be strong” “This book explores themes of… Perseverance, Friendship, and Personal Growth” “Right from the beginning, [Hajime No Ipo: The Fighting] drew me in with… It’s characters and struggles that don’t only focus on Ippo, but every character as a whole. Making it a more unique story that gives nearly as much attention to the side characters as well as the Main character. Making it seem more realistic and interesting than most one character focused stories” “A pivotal moment in the novel is when… Ippo trains himself to come up with the De “I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy… Boxing and fighting in general as well as anime fans.” “If you’re interested in stories that… Are realistic and focus on a variety of characters” “Overall, I would rate this book [4.5 out of 5 stars] because… The only thing that holds it back for me is pacing at times, but certainly nothing that’s worth not reading over.”

Really love Hajime no ippo!! Easily my favorite sports manga/anime, it’s a lot more than just the boxing! Great character development and story outside the sports part!😁👌🥊🥊❤️
Back to reading this cause more free chapters and solid set up volume here, Kobashi ain’t taking Ippo lightly which is good. Takamura is champ now so is he now the goal for Ippo? Interesting stuff to think about.

Ippo prepares for his match with Kobashi, who isn't a strong boxer but seems to have some secret plan. Kobashi spies on Ippo in the meantime and takes notes on his technique. In the match, Kobashi leads Ippo around and exhausts him with a hit-and-run technique combined with strategic clinches. However, when Kobashi manages to get in a real punch, the feeling goes to his head and he decides he wants to win with a KO. This change in tactics allows the exhausted Ippo to take him out in the final round with a KO. Takamura's title match comes next. He's nervous and gets downed by the champion in the first round. From the stands, Ippo, whose mouth is still streaming blood from his match, screams at him to get up. Takamura rises and KOs the champion in the same first round. A celebration follows, and when Ippo walks Takamura home, Takamura quietly thanks him and encourages him to win the rookie tournament.
This is a consistently enjoyable story. Maybe it deserves four stars, I'm not sure if I might've loved it more if I'd read it before watching the anime. Since I've already seen this part, it's not as thrilling as it might have been otherwise. I also really hated Kobashi. I think we're supposed to find him and his style of fighting frustrating, but the thought that the only reason Ippo managed to win that match was because Kobashi threw away his plan and went charging in doesn't sit well with me.
