Looking For Ward

Rate this book
What if your love disappeared and your loyalties changed? Would you change your life, or would it change you? In Looking For Ward a bride-to-be confronts these questions as she faces the ultimate threat to her wedding plans.

Meet Chloe Langley, a wannabe jewelry designer and spoiled Daddy’s girl. Chloe is used to getting what she wants, and for months she’s been planning the dream wedding for herself and her finance, Ward. Then, thirty days before their wedding day, Ward disappears, leaving only an e-mail, instructing her not to look for him.

In the month leading up to her wedding, Chloe must decide if and how she should find Ward, whom to trust, when to let go, and what to do about their wedding plans.

The story is told through a series of e-mails between Chloe, her best-friend Bethany, and Ward’s best man Owen. As the month goes on and the wedding date gets closer, secrets come out that change the lives of everyone involved. In the process Chloe discovers the true meaning of love and loyalty, and finds that she’s capable of more than she ever thought possible.

Looking For Ward is a wonderful story about what it means to believe in love, and to believe in yourself.

Minnesota author Laurel Osterkamp originally wrote this 22,000-word novella for fans of her chick-lit novel, Following My Toes. Those readers received a new installment of the story by e-mail each day during the month of March 2007. Now this 2008 Kindle edition offers Looking For Ward to the general public.

Laurel Osterkamp has been a comedy writer for Minneapolis performance groups over the last seven years. She currently teaches creative writing to high school students, and lives in Minneapolis with her husband and son.

This story is told in emails to Chloe's best friend, Bethany, and Ward's best friend, Owen. This is a quick and easy-to-read novella. There's quite a lot packed into this short read.

The story of Chloe Lang looking for her missing fiance Ward, who has disappeared some weeks before their wedding. Its an epistolary story told in emails to her best friend, Bethany and Ward's best friend, Owen. The book is full of surprises from cheating to unrequited love. I enjoyed the method of story telling. It's something I want to try out myself.

Loved style of book. The entire book is a series of e-mails about two couples/ 4 friends. 2 of the friends are scheduled to get married until he disappears without an explanation. THE E-MAILS THAT FOLLOW REVEAL TRUTHS/ LIES... MISCOMMUNICATIONS AND REVELATIONS.

a simple (yet complicated) love story about giving up hope and faith.

A quick, fun read that is presented in a different way - a series of emails. But because it is a fairly short novella, it didn't get tiresome. And that made it great for quick reading when I only had a couple of minutes and could complete a couple of emails and stop.
A lot happening in about a month with just a few characters, but enough plot to make you want to finish and know the outcome.

I was very interested in the plot, but pretty much knew what was going to happen about 1/4 the way into it. I'm not into romance much and sadly this fits the genre. Not to say it wasn't great for someone a fan of romance, but as I am usually not, I give it two stars.

If you want a cheesy, predictable, quick read, then this is one for you to pick up. I didn't really care for it. To be fair, I knew what I was getting myself into when I read it. Now I remember why I don't read a lot of romance.

Not bad for a freebee from Amazon. I liked that the majority of the story is told in the format of emails to and from the main character. Cute story, but a little cheesy!

This was ok - just. An unlikeable whingy heroine with no get up and go plus an un heroic hero and new interest made it a struggle to read.

It's okay for a 100-page freebie from Kindle. Light chick lit in email format and not a bad way to while away 30 minutes in a coffee shop.
