She first came to public attention in 1978 during a visit to Australia, when she appeared on The Don Lane Show. In the wave of interest that followed her appearance, she played to three capacity audiences at the Sydney Opera House. She was also the first medium to appear at the London Palladium, with the tickets selling out in two hours. In 1980, her first, written with Linda Dearsley, autobiographical volume, Voices In My Ear: The Autobiography of a Medium was published, pulling her further into the public eye in the UK. Over two million copies of her books were sold.

Hmmm...what do I say about this book?
Obviously, when writing from memory, conversations can't be recalled word for word so you can't be sure how accurate some of stories are. The cynical side of me wonders if Doris was just very good at reading people & that without realising it, they were providing her with the information themselves.
But I want so much to believe in her &, if the original conversations were anything like the ones she's recorded in the book then she had to genuine ...hadn't she?
It was a very thought provoking read....& emotional -I have to admit at times I had a lump in my throat & tears in my eyes!
Regardless or whether she was genuine or not, I guess she brought comfort & solace to thousands of people which can't be a bad thing. A remarkable woman.

Doris Stokes, was a remarkable lady, who offered comfort to all those who asked for help, in contacting their loved ones, who had passed over.
Many times putting her own health at risk. A Host of Voices, comprises Voices in my ear, & Whispering Voices, these two books, will give you, hope and comfort, knowing that, just because we die, it doesn't been, we cease to exist..

It made me believe there is a life after death and I get to live with everyone I love forever without suffering and pain. This book brings me comfort and reassurance that God and our loved ones are always there watching us.

The author offers us a shear in her busy lifestyle. I enjoyed it so much. It's a book for readers who believe in life after death, medium and ghosts.

I was delighted to have been gifted this book by a friend during 2020 and having recently been drawn to read it, I was reminded of the lovely Doris Stokes from my youth; the lady who first drew me to the ‘World of Spirit’ and the possibility of an afterlife.
This is a collection of two of her books; Innocent Voices and Whispering Voices, and in her inimitable style, Doris relays her stories in her grandmotherly way that I remember from the 1980s.
If you have an interest in Spirit and how our souls live on, long after our physical body in this lifetime is finished with, then you’ll enjoy this book. I would warn you though, the style of speech and descriptions of health conditions are very much of their time.
Doris seemed to be a very ordinary person, who was content with a fairly simple life, and much like her generation, at 65, she thought of herself as old. Clearly proud of her celebrity friends, Doris is very gracious in how she remembers them, and it’s so lovely to hear the nice things spoken of them by a genuine friend.
Doris clearly gave comfort to so many people during her lifetime of service, that I shall always admire her and feel thankful for that introduction to the world of spirit, for me. I was also astounded at reading of her son, John Michael, because my own baby brother was Micheal John and he too passed before reaching his first birthday. Gone home, but never forgotten and now with our Mum again. xxx

This book is an autobiography. The author is an English medium who contacts the dead. The basic message sent from the dead is "I'm okay, don't worry about me." Very good book. It was written very well and was an easy read.
