I have so much respect for Tommy Green. As the singer for the hardcore band Sleeping Giant, he has the opportunity to play before tons of kids all the time. I've been in bands & written songs & I believe you should write songs about what you're passionate about & in this case, Tommy's lyrics are about his passion for God & making His glory known in the earth & are some of the most impact full & powerful I've heard.

This book is not about his band, but I felt the need to explain a little about the author first for those who don't know, because I believe it's significant since its not the norm for a very heavy hardcore band member to be a pastor & to be writing a book about the things he addresses in Religio-cide.

This is not your run of the mill "Jesus is great, become a Christian & then nothing changes in your life" teaching. Tommy addresses topics that aren't necessarily new but I think to a lot of churches & people who profess to be Christians, it's a completely different way of thinking about living life through Christ.

I listened to the audio version of this book, & recommend this over the written book because Tommy is a really down to earth, yet engaging speaker & I liked that as he read it, it wasn't just like a regular audio book, but more of like the way he would be at a speaking engagement. I think he did a great job conveying his points & making it easy to listen to.

I recommend this book for new Christians & those who gave been a Christian for awhile bc I think it will reveal things about your relationship with Jesus that you might've never thought about or put it in a new perspective. But it also exposes religion (the man made way to God by trying to be "good enough" & constantly focuses on sin management) verses having a true relationship with Christ that focuses on the provision He made for us to reach God & by focusing on His constant Grace as opposed be constantly sin focused instead of Jesus focused.

By audio, it's about a little over an hour & a half listen so it doesn't take long to get through. I highly recommend checking it out & checking out Tommy Greens band Sleeping Giant if yore into heavy music & his ministry Revolution Reality.

i am a huge, huge sleeping giant fan and i think tommy green is an awesome dude. when they perform live you can instantly sense his passion, honesty and dedication. so i was very excited to read religio-cide. i didn't love the book. i definitely thought a better intro even tommy's testimony would have been helpful. almost anyone who has seen them lives know this but i think it's important for everyone to hear. maybe it was the type face or layout but i found myself getting lost a lot. the all caps didn't across and poignant it was a little annoying. that said, i agree with almost all of what he had to say and since he is clearing in a band and not an author, the book definitely gets an A for effort.

Tommy is definitely on to something in this book. most of the book I already in a way was familiar with by being a subcultured Christian connected to the hardcore scene since 98. But, what it is that makes me want to and probably will reference this book in future essays as a seminary student is Tommy's personal grasp and authority in the heavenly places. He very candidly points out our relationship in terms of destiny and ownership of Christs' power to heal and to save in 2012. I was so encouraged with the knowledge and continual cross referencing that Tommy does. He wants you to be certain that this Christ who was killed and miraculously resurrected is both Lord and Messiah.

listen to it on audio for a more full and clear effect. 5 stars

I'm adding this book to my "favorites thus far" shelf because it is a must read for any Christian looking to re-charge their foundation in Christ. The stories Tommy tells from his personal life are compelling and his relationship with God is present in every page of this book. He helps the reader deal with struggles of faith, understanding church and other people's relationships with God in relation to your own, and it's also jam packed with ideas on how to re-fuel the fire, get to know Jesus better, and let God solidify your foundation in Him so that all the little thing in Church that seem to bog us down don't keep bogging you! This is a must read.

This is a great manual on learning how to really kick start your Relationship with God. The Book is a fast read, but leaves you with a lot to ponder after each chapter. Tommy shows his raw emotional love for God through out the book. He has real world examples about works that God has been working in his life or someone around him. This is a great book that every Christian should read. Also a REALLY great book for anyone that's interested in God but not church!

Very simple, but well to the point book about things you can do in your daily life to connect more with God. I plan to use this as more of a devotional as it's such a quick read. Tommy defintiely gives some great examples and references for things you can do to see a real life-change!!

This is not an expansive theological treatise. This is a handbook for revolution and a simple look at how to live a life radically for Jesus.

While his writing is spastic at times, Tommy Green does a good job of encouraging the reader to seek Jesus above all else.
