True story, Martin. Kicked myself for not having been more in the ball that morning! I recommend Chester races for a nice weekend break. The walk along the River Dee from Queens Park is really nice. You pass an old fashioned bandstand and a riverside pub and then there it is, the racecourse, sort of in the centre of town, alongside which run the old Roman city walls adjacent to the home straight.
