There is fair bit of "underground knowledge" in this novel as well...Including sub-plots relating to the philosophical debates surrounding this year's COVID-19 lockdowns, the world's secret invisible economy worth quadrillions, out of body experiences (aka astral travel), as well as the Israeli-Palestinian Middle East conflict.Also, maybe that blue butterfly on the cover relates to a mystery embedded in the story...

Best wishes for your new book James, the cover looks great! I think you make an interesting point about 'the world's secret invisible economy worth quadrillions'. Something very disturbing is happening with respect to the world financial markets. If governments borrow money to fund their spending programs,(which most say they are...) then this should 'crowd out' private investment by putting upwards pressure on interest rates. This has not occurred. In reality, most western nations now have zero interest rates. This infers that our brave leaders are indirectly just printing money. If this is correct, things will not end happily - see Weimar Republic collapse and growth of Nazism.

You know more about the markets than me by the sounds of it, but many others are also thinking much financial chicanery has occurred this year. In terms of economics and democratic freedoms, it's almost as if our leaders are purposefully pushing us off the edge of a cliff...

Elijah breathed deeply as he meditated.
In, out. In, out.
Even though his awareness was somewhere in the deepest recesses of his mind, Elijah was also conscious of more mundane things. For example, he could hear the palm trees swaying gently above his head in the strong sea breeze.
He could also hear the ocean waves. Not only that, he noticed how his breathing coincided perfectly with the waves breaking on the shore. Each inhalation ended with each wave’s arrival while each exhalation precisely matched each receding wave.
These were the types of synchronicities Elijah looked for not only in his daily meditations, but also in his life in general. For him, they were mystical signs from the universe. And Elijah always paid attention to such signs as he believed in things like nature spirits, guardian angels and various other supernatural forces guiding humanity.
Guiding, if only humans would tune in and listen.
Elijah was meditating in the lotus position on Kuta Beach in Bali, Indonesia. The tropical body of water before him was part of the Indian Ocean. Known as a tourist mecca that attracted surfers and young partygoers from all over the world, the community on this day was like a ghost town. Even most of the Kuta locals were nowhere to be found.
This never-before-seen state of affairs was a result of the international travel restrictions implemented by governments due to the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic. The virus had already infected several million people worldwide and killed a few hundred thousand, so authorities were taking no chances.
Elijah had been living in the coastal Balinese town since late 2019. He had stubbornly decided not to fly home to his native England when the virus had broken out in the Kuta district shortly after the New Year.
Besides, the truth was he didn’t really have a home. Elijah had been a nomad for a number of years and there was nowhere his heart truly belonged to.
He also believed in fate, so was not fearful about catching the virus. Instead, he felt that if it was his time to die, then he would die. If, instead, he was destined to live longer, then nothing would ever harm him including any virus.
I am a multidimensional, sovereign being, was his mantra.
At thirty five years old with a beard, dark, longish hair, and intense blue eyes, Elijah even had a devil-may-care look about him.
He placed his attention on the area inside his skull known as the midbrain. Having spent a year in the Himalayas studying under yogis and yoginis, he had learnt this traditional yogic meditation practice directly from them.
Meticulously following the steps of this Ancient Indian method, Elijah breathed in specific rhythms in order to awaken the various glands and nerves inside his midbrain. According to yogic wisdom, fully activating these glands and nerves would eventually lead to enlightenment.
Elijah was not quite alone at that moment. Beyond the supernatural forces and beings he felt were surrounding him, he was also being viewed by a handful of people around the world.
The global observers were remotely viewing the Englishman’s morning meditation via his phone that was neatly placed on a rock before him.
“Man,” Elijah suddenly said, with his eyes still closed. “How did we get here?”
Elijah took another deep breath, before he opened his eyes and looked directly into his phone’s camera lens. He adjusted the phone’s position on the rock in order to frame himself slightly better.
“And what the hell is this year all about?”
Elijah shook his head and smiled, before closing his eyes once more as if to intuitively seek answers.
After a few more deep inhalations and exhalations, he once more addressed those he was on the video conference with.
“Can there be a silver lining to all this madness?”

As the title suggests, the story is set during Anno MMXX (Year 2020) and explores five different relationships as people are separated from each other due to the Coronavirus lockdown.
Anno 2020 is a highly descriptive, detail orientated, character-driven, psychological mystery. It’s a work of fiction in which the internal journey going on inside each character’s mind is of equal importance to the events of the story.
