The point is that they aren’t “very separate” at all. The interconnectedness and intersectionality is the point.
It's interesting that your review proves the point of the book...the dominant conditioning runs so deep it seems that the biological norms of infant care like close proximity day and night and breastfeeding for the duration of our species norm (labeled extended) and not ignoring an infants cries and signals through interventions like sleep training are labeled "crunchy" trends and excessive practices...our biological needs and our human ecology and what our bodies expect in order to thrive aren't going to change because our less than 1% of human history coming from colonisation and industrialization contradicts and makes it very difficult to satisfy them...ah if you don't see how and why colonization is related to this as you write in the end then you have sadly missed the point of the book...

Why do you feel shamed "if you are not even a mom"?
Because you identify yourself with a certain worldview?
Why should anybody feel "shamed" or threatened by a worldview that is based on respect and compassion? Instead of considering that our way's of parenting and dealing with ourselfes and each other might be worth reconsideration?
This says a lot about you and almost nothing about the Authors and book. And it demonstrates what the autors intend to show: Grown up's and Children who were raised within the dominant beliefe-systems of our current times tend to carry loads of negativity and agressions and little love and respect for themselfes and one another ...
