Prayer Requests > Likes and Comments
Doreen, as my own husband has recently recovered from quadruple bypass, my prayers are with her and your family as well. My husband was not favorable as well (smoker and genetics) but I truly believe in intercession prayer and its miraculous outcomes. Best,
Melissa
I don't know how the surgery went but I will be going to see her either Sunday or Monday. Thank you both so much for the prayers. They always help. Since I'm not immediate family the hospital could only confirm that she's there. I went through this with my Dad when he was alive so I at least know what to expect.
My cousin Karen is home but is having bad problems with her legs. She also has an enlarged heart so that complicates matters. It's a day by day thing but prayers always help.
Today while I was at Adoration I was invited to participate in this. I'd never heard of it before, but decided to do the prayers with the group from home and in Chapel, even though I won't be in town for the big day. Sharing in case you'd like to participate, learn about this yourself, etc.
I love my little chapel. This group is totally on the ball. They always know exactly when to start the next round of novenas, which novenas are up next, track the pro-life prayers, keep up with the U.S. government monthly rosary, etc. I just show up. LOL. They also have an awesome reading library attached to the chapel and we have an excellent way of sharing prayer request cards.
Here's the latest mission:
The Preparation for Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary is a 33 day program with the 34th day being the Day of Consecration. This is a 33 day-preparatory prayers and devotions with the 34th day being the Consecration Day.
We are totally consecrating ourselves to Jesus through Mary. we then become "slaves" of Mary; embracing all her virtues. We commit our day to day undertakings to her. We are using the De Montfort Way or you can choose to use Fr. Gaitley's 33 Days to Morning Glory. St John Paul II and Mother Theresa are a few of the saints who have consecrated themselves using the De Montfort Way. By the way, he will become a Doctor of the Church soon. The books will not be in till mid November. The National Consecration Office is out of stock.
There is also a free app available. December 8th: this will be the Consecration Day with Mass with Brown Scapular and Miraculous Medal Enrollment.
FYI - I found both books on Kindle.
So.....should you wish to participate, start your prayers November 5. :-)
The idea is to end on a Feast Day for Mary. December 8 fits the bill.
True Devotion to Mary: With Preparation for Total Consecration
and
33 Days to Morning Glory are the two books I ordered on Kindle. You don't need both. From the book True Devotion to Mary:
COMMENDATIONS OF THE POPES
Blessed Pope Pius IX (1846–78): Declared that Saint Louis De Montfort’s devotion to Mary was the best and most acceptable form of devotion to Our Lady.
Pope Leo XIII (1878–1903): Granted a Plenary Indulgence to those who make Saint Louis De Montfort’s act of consecration to the Blessed Virgin. On his deathbed he renewed the act himself and invoked the heavenly aid of Saint Louis De Montfort, whom he had beatified in 1888.
Pope Saint Pius X (1903–14): “I heartily recommend True Devotion to The Blessed Virgin, so admirably written by [Saint] De Montfort, and to all who read it grant the Apostolic Benediction.” . . .”There is no surer or easier way than Mary in uniting all men with Christ.”
Pope Benedict XV (1914–22): “A book of high authority and unction.”
Pope Pius XI (1922–39): “I have practiced this devotion ever since my youth.”
Pope Pius XII (1939–58): “God Alone was everything to him. Remain faithful to the precious heritage, which this great saint left you. It is a glorious inheritance, worthy, that you continue to sacrifice your strength and your life, as you have done until today.”
Pope Paul VI (1963–78): “We are convinced without any doubt that devotion to Our Lady is essentially joined with devotion to Christ, that it assures a firmness of conviction to faith in Him and in His Church, a vital adherence to Him and to His Church which, without devotion to Mary, would be impoverished and compromised.”
Blessed Pope John Paul II (1978–2005): “The reading of this book was a decisive turning-point in my life. I say ‘turning-point,’ but in fact it was a long inner journey . . . This ‘perfect devotion’ is indispensable to anyone who means to give himself without reserve to Christ and to the work of redemption.” . . .”It is from Montfort that I have taken my motto: ‘Totus tuus’ (‘I am all thine’). Someday I’ll have to tell you Montfortians how I discovered De Montfort’s Treatise on True Devotion to Mary, and how often I had to reread it to understand it.”
Vatican Council II (1962–1965): ‘The maternal duty of Mary toward men in no way obscures or diminishes this unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power. All her saving influence on men originates not from some inner necessity, but from the divine pleasure. It flows forth from the superabundance of the merits of Christ, rests on His mediation, depends entirely on it and draws all its power from it.’ . . . ‘The practices and exercises of devotion to her recommended by the Church in the course of the centuries [are to] be treasured.’ (Lumen Gentium: 60, 67).

I already have The 33 Days to Morning Glory, so I think I shall participate with you!
Are there any other group members who may have a need for a prayer request? As for myself I don't feel anyone needs to go into detail why they need a request. For me it's enough just to know you need one and that's good enough for me. You can share if you want to but don't feel you have to. It may sound a bit old fashioned but for me,"I don't have to see to believe".
Well I feel horrible asking again for a prayer request but I just found out one of my other cousins, Terri, has stage 4 lung cancer. She is only in her mid-40s. Any prayers and good thoughts for her not for me would be much appreciated.
I'd like to ask prayers for a family I went to high school with, their youngest brother passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.
Joseph wrote: "I'd like to ask prayers for a family I went to high school with, their youngest brother passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer."You got it Joseph. I am so sorry to hear of your loss and will certainly be praying for all.
Joseph wrote: "I'd like to ask prayers for a family I went to high school with, their youngest brother passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer."I will include you and that family in my prayers. Thank you for remembering them.
I am praying for each and every one of you. <3Would you all mind praying for me? I really need prayers at this point of my life--I've been going through both a psychological darkness and a spiritual darkness period of my life. It's been especially hard on me. Please keep me in your prayers.

Elsa, I will pray for you daily.

Elsa you got anything you need. You can always contact me in a private message. I have anxiety and depression so I can definitely relate. I'll leave it up to me as to what you feel comfortable with but the offer will always stand open. We all love you.
Thank you both for your prayers. It really means a lot to me. <3And Doreen, I believe I will take you up on your offer right now. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your prayers, Elsa! I'm also going through a time of trial in my life. If you need someone to talk to please feel free to drop me a line. Perhaps we can pray together? Here's my email arielasolsol@gmail.com. Blessings upon you
Irene wrote: "Doreen, How is your cousin that we have been praying for?"Thank you for asking Irene. She's really struggling. She was in rehab and almost set to go home and now she's back in the hospital. There's some inflammation in the sac surrounding her heart. Still doing lots of tests to find out why. Prayers are helping. If it wasn't for prayers she wouldn't be here now. I'm so greatful for the prayers for her sake.
Thanks for the update on your cousin, Doreen. We serve a Mighty God...and there's nothing impossible for Him!
So sorry to read that she is still struggling with cardiac problems. Will continue to hold her in prayer.
Irene wrote: "So sorry to read that she is still struggling with cardiac problems. Will continue to hold her in prayer."Well I just got the rug pulled out from under me. Last June my oldest sister passed. This morning my middle sister called me and told me she was rushed to the hospital yesterday and may have to have a hysterectomy because she may have cancer. Honestly if it wasn't for my faith I would be a basket case right now. I just don't know why all this is happening at once and how to get through it.

Doreen, I am so sorry to hear this. I will keep you and your sister in my prayers.

Thanks everyone. This came as a complete shock to me. I think I wearing out all the rosaries my mom had collected over this but it never hurts to pray. I know God will take care of her and our mom and dad are watching over us.
My prayers for all who are requesting them here. While I'm here I might as well ask for prayers for my mother. She's having problems with her feet, which has screwed up her walking, and therefore screwed up her back and legs. It's been going on for almost a year now. She's 82 and she's getting depressed over it. One thing is leading to another. It's not life threatening, but her will is beginning to break.

I will keep ypur mother in my prayers Manny.
I have added your mother to my prayer list Manny. Grandmother was 87 the day she died and had lost her will to live due to health complications. It is difficult to watch them go through it knowing there is nothing you can do to help. But Christ will love her through it all and He loves you as well.
I truly believe praying for each other will help all of us get through our challenges. God will see all of us through.
Doreen wrote: "Manny wrote: "Thank you all."Manny how is your mom doing? We're all praying for her and you."
About the same. She's a bit depressed. Nothing life threatening. I'm beginning to think it's her depression that's making her worse. She seems to be walking better.
Thanks for asking.
Today she was much better. Took her out and about. Her feet were a little better and it did her good to be out. I realized it could also be the winter blues from lack of sunshine and being stuck inside since the holidays. Thank you all for your prayers.
That's wonderful Manny! It's getting a wee bit too cold here so I'm staying warm and snug in the house. Expecting a Nor'Easter tomorrow. Laundry in the morning (oh yay! NOT!) and then the Patriots game later. And I'll be reading throughout the day.

I have a special request myself for prayers for my cousin, Karen Ligocki, who will be undergoing bypass surgery on Friday. The odds are not in her favor so any prayers or good thoughts would be much appreciated.
